Microsoft’s new P.A.C.T. ready for download this December.
What is it . . ?
It stands for Parental Involvement – Access – Content – Time.
Recently, Robbie Bach, Microsoft’s President of Home Entertainment announced their new initiative to help parents and children in coming to agreements on how they all enjoy their gaming and home entertainment.
Robbie Back commented: “As a leader in interactive entertainment, it’s Microsoft’s responsibility to provide parents with tools they can use to manage their children’s video gaming and online experiences, and we have made that a priority from the very start”. Bach continued proudly, “Professionally, I am proud of my division’s work in this area, and personally, as a parent of three school-aged children, I know how important it is to be engaged in an ongoing dialogue with my family in order to uphold our household screen time rules.”
With the introduction of P.A.C.T., MS wants to give both parents and children (minors) a chance to set up a Pact with each other around how long they will spend gaming, and what types etc they can do. This will take the form of a very neatly laid out “Agreement Form” in PDF form, which can be downloaded and used at home, and implemented with the next Fall Update due to be released soon.
You’ll find the PDF at the link provided above, do read it, it’s well worth the look.
Personally I think it’s a great idea, and will help many parents, and children in managing their leisure time more effectively, and make both the parents and the children more responsible around how much and how often they play games at home.
