“`Grand Theft Auto IV has finally arrived and features a fully fledged multi-player experience for those looking to enjoy the game after finishing Single Player. With 10 multiplayer modes to choose from and a whole city at your disposal there is much fun to be had now in the long run with GTA: IV than previous titles. In this walkthrough the basic outline of each game mode will be explained and also some tips as to how to work together in team games and also single player games to ensure you success and that you come out as the victor.

Multiplayer - Through the in game mobile phone you are able to select multiplayer and enjoy GTA: IV online with friends and gamers around the world.
Player Match – Allows you to enjoy every single game mode available without the hassles or worries of ranking up, competitive gamers or bragging rights. It is more about having fun and enjoying a great relaxing night with some mates over LIVE.

Ranked Match – Pits you up against opponents who are playing to win and play aggressive if need be. As you progress in Ranked matches and earn money, with the more money you earn the higher rank you become with Level 10 being the maximum. With every level you go up you unlock newer clothes and accessories for your character to wear.

Party Mode - As Brucie puts it “VIP Baby!”. Party mode allows you to invite up to 15 of your friends to join up and take the games modes of GTA: IV head on. There are also no police in Party Mode and, as the name would suggest, Party Mode is great for running around in Liberty City and causing all hell to break loose. With Party Mode you can select any Player Match Game Modes to play or only a select list of ranked to play.

Host Options:
Turning cops on and off
Turning pedestrians on or off
Adjusting density of traffic

2. Mafia Work – Team Mafia Work

Single/Team Game Mode Outline

1. Death Match
Like with all games that include deathmatch the aim is pretty simple, you are pitted against other players fighting for the number 1 spot. GTA:IV Deathmatch does that and also adds a little something extra with the winner not being determined by only the number of kills but also the amount of money they hold. Money is a big factor in every game mode and Death Match is no exception.

Team Death Match: Exactly like Deathmatch only with the inclusion of teams. There can be more than 2 teams and the same rules apply to Team Deathmatch as with Deathmatch – the team with the most money at the end of the match wins the game. Team work is best for this.
Recommended number of players: DM: 4-16 – TDM: 8-16
Recommended Area of Play: Depending on how many players you wish to have in your game then go for a small area for less than 10 or a medium to big area for a full 16, with re-spawns on near/medium.

Tips: Kills + Money = Win – When you dispose of someone if they drop any money make a dash for it when safe and retrieve it as it will not only increase your total owned money but also increases your chances of winning.

Cover System - Make great use of the cover system as it is very handy and used wisely with Auto-Aim will guarantee you easy targets to pick off and increase your chance of success!

2. Mafia Work

Objective based game mode. At the start of the game you get a call from your boss Kenny Petrovic – from there on in you are on your own to complete objectives he sets out for you ranging from eliminating other mafia associates, blowing up certain cars to escorting particular products. To ensure victory in Mafia Work, make sure you have the biggest bank at the end of the allocated time limit.

Team Mafia Work: This plays out exactly like Mafia Work only now there are teams competing against each other working for Mr. Petrovic. Again the winner is determined by the team with the biggest bank at the end of the time limit.

Recommended number of players: MW: 4-16 – TMW: 8-16

Recommended Area of Play: Regardless of having the full 16 players, stick to one island when playing either Mafia Work or Team Mafia Work as it is big enough to cope with a full room, and will ensure that getting to the destination will not take longer than a minute and that you will not be out of the action for a prolonged period of time.

Tips: Team Work – You’ll require communication and team work. Assign roles to each team member and work together to take out the opponents going for the same objective.

Know Your Way – Whether Mafia Work or Team Mafia Work, make sure you know your way around the map. Set a waypoint the moment you have received your objective and work with it to get there the fastest.

  1. Sweet walkthrough! Because of the fun muliplayer I’ve spent way too much time playing online and not nearly enough on the single player campaign! I’ll get it done though……eventually. lol

  2. Yeah, I think Grath did a damn fine job . . . and congrats to him for being the first from the site to get an “Official” article up on the Xbox.com.au Community Sites Main Page.
