PLayersLounge – IGN Taste Testers Update:

“`Australia, May 26, 2008 – UPDATE! As we told you yesterday, we’re kicking off a new series of events here at IGN Australia – the IGN Taste Tests. What are they? Exclusive sessions for you guys to come and play the hottest new games – before they’re released in Australia – then tell the world what you think of them.

For our first Taste Test we’re holding a Ninja Gaiden II session at the Player’s Lounge in Stanmore, Sydney on JUNE 2ND, kicking off at 6pm. Yes, next Monday!

The lucky few who secure a place will be able to come along for an hour and a half of play with the full game, with free beer and pizza on the side. And of course, after you’ve finished playing we’ll record what you have to say and put together a video for other IGN readers to check out. Do you have what it takes to be an IGN reviewer? Are you pretty enough to be on the interwebs?

Budding journalists who can answer ‘yes’ to at least the first question can enter by simply emailing us at The Outreach Inbox! with an answer to the following:

Tell us in 100 words or less why you have the chops to be an IGN Taste Tester.

Please include your full name and contact phone number in your entry.

The event is for Sydney-based readers aged 18 and over only.

From IGN Australia

So get in guys-n-gals while you can and do the best you can with those 100 words . .

“`PlayersLounge at Stanmore has been home for one of our recent DarkLAN’s as well as giving us support and assistance with spreading our fledgling WWW-wings over the last several months. We attended another Halo 3 Lan just this Saturday night just gone, which was a riot in more ways than one. (Small story coming on that soon). Their premises is home for many corporate and industry functions around Sydney, and one of their newest ventures is a team effort with IGN Australia to bring gamers closer together with games prior to release via the Taste Tester experience. Something we’ve (read I have) been pushing for for some time now with the likes of Game and even JB Hi-Fi.

The first one will be kicking off with Ninja Gaiden 2, and only open to players of 18yrs and over. Don’t shoot the messenger people, they have rules and must follow them. So please don’t go hounding PlayersLounge if you’re under 18, as you’ll only be refused entry. The game is rated MA15+ but both PlayersLounge and IGN have deemed the age rating for entry, not me.

It’s on a selection base, and dates have yet to be announced, but it will be about one week prior to release here in Australia, which is the 12th June ‘08. It will be run in the evening, as will all other Taste Tester Events, and you can be sure X360.com.au (aka XboxOZ360-gamer) (we are proudly sponsored by PlayesLounge btw) will be there to bring you the goodies alongside IGN naturally, as it is their event after all.

But having connections and being affiliated with PlayersLounge does grant us some leeway thankfully.

  1. Gahh!!! i turn 18 August 18th :( why could it not be then. Im only 2 months away from the 18 mark. hehe. I just miss out.

Ah well. Have fun on the night when it happens and wil be waiting to hear and read all the goss on what went down and what people thought of the game. :) .

  2. Oh man, that will be a great event. Lucky I’m over 18 LOL.

Wonder how they are going to pick the people to go to the event?

  3. Ahh bummer for me! Hopefully one of you lucky sod’s over 18 can get in.

  4. We certainly will . . .and we’ll shell out some pics of the evening, but no screenshots unfortunately . . . or “spoilers” . . . but we will keep you posted as to how and where to go to apply for the event. Remembering, it’s limited numbers as well.

  5. Make an exception let me come. I will promise not to touch the alcohol. haha.

I’ll stick solely to NG2 and talking to other gamers regarding how they are finding the game and jotting down some key points that they throw out. Do little bit of journalism to include in the post about the night, i say from an up and coming rising gamer star. hehe

Just gimme a chance coach i can do it! :P hehe.

    No but seriously.

  6. Well I’m up late!

But I’ll be keen on the details as soon as they’re hot off the press. I’ve been busy defending NG2 ever since the very mixed review-build reviews hit this afternoon. Hopefully IGN will be previewing the retail-build which apparently doesn’t have the alleged frame rate issues.

Great to see IGN AU making such an effort for the local community, the Black Beta events are particularly awesome.
