Fable 2 street date broken in Australia

Fable II – K-Mart breaks Street Date in Australia !

Update #1:

It now seems Harvey Norman in Victoria have also broken the street date on Fable II. It will be interesting to see how strict MS get with regards to this, as there is talk that it may well impose fines and also not allow the stores that break street dates access to Gears Of War 2 until a few weeks after its official lanuch. More to come:

It seems some lucky Australians managed to pick up Fable 2 today (still a week from release) from various Kmart stores around the country. Reminiscent of the fiasco surrounding Mass Effect, this leak could lead to the complete lifting of the recommended street date for the sale of Fable 2, currently scheduled for a 23rd October release.

Electronics Boutique (Australia’s largest gaming retailer) are currently assessing the situation, if their head office were to give the green light for sale, the floodgates would be open for other retailers to follow suit. According to various sources within the retailing industry, the stores who have broken the street date could be heavily penalised. Some even claiming that these retailers will be unable to sell Gears of War 2 on it’s currently scheduled release of the 7th November, but instead be forced to sell it 3 weeks later.
