We here at OXCGN (aka XboxOz360Gamer) are all about the community, and so we find that we are fans of others who are also all about the community. Each month we will introduce you to a friend of ours who is contributing to the Xbox Community Network in some fashion. This month we are tickled pink to introduce you to Marko B (or Superfonzy as most will know him) of www.ihatework.com.au a site that is full of enthusiastic console gamers.

So as they say “On with the show”

Jim: So Ihatework.com.au, is your site. Can you tell us what you have planned direction-wise for it?

Fonz: Direction wise for ihw specifically? not much. However the gaming community can expect something big soon, possibly a change in name, expect to hear rumours on the grape vine soon (anyone play cluedo?).

Jim: What benefits do you think your site will have on the community?

Fonz: I guess what we are aiming for is to bring the gaming community together as a whole, bridge the gap between consoles and let us all celebrate what we love to do… play games.  The site’s success will rely heavily on user contribution, and how well they use/incorporate the features we supply.

Jim: Your trapped on an island (Which has power + also polar bears.) with one tv, one console and one game. What game would you want it to be, and why?

Fonz: Wouldn’t really matter considering the polar bears would have me for a snack the moment I stepped foot on sand, maybe due to the fact my survival skills are limited to unrolling a sleeping bag and cracking open a tin of spam (love spam).

However if the polar bears were occupied with generating the islands power (think about it, who else would be doing it?), and I somehow made my way to the gaming oasis of the TV and Console the game would have to be “Mike Tysons: Punchout” (NES), its been over 20 years and I still cant manage to beat Mike Tyson and it’ll be another 20 before I do.

Jim: What caused you to create ihatework.com.au?

Fonz: Ihatework.com.au is a site a close friend and I have been sitting on for just over a year with the intention of providing some sort of release portal for those frustrated desk jockies out there.  Unfortunately the idea never bloomed due to “real life” taking a firm grasp on us in the last 10 months.

Opportunity arose when gamers were looking for an instant chat service that took them away from your typical gaming forum.  So we “dumped” a flashchat service onto the lonely domain and now we have over 1,000 active members (number has been rounded off to the nearest thousand).

Jim: How long have you been gaming?

Fonz: Since I could bend my thumbs.  The first game I ever played was submarine attack on one of those lcd handhelds you can still purchase for 2 dollars from a random stall at your local market… you know the stand, the one with that battery powered commando toy that crawls on the floor and makes a shooting sound every 3 seconds.

Jim: What got you into gaming?

Fonz: My folks, when they purchased submarine attack off the bloke running the stall above. Thanks Mum and Dad, little did they know that at the time of purchase they were committing me to a life of pasty skin, violence and future social issues.

Jim: Most anticipated title for the rest of the year?

Fonz: Left 4 Dead, the undead need to die… again. (countdown here: http://left4dead411.com/)

Jim: What do you think about the R18 rating debacle?

Fonz: To be honest I haven’t been following it as closely as some, main reason being is that the games that have been declined classification so far I haven’t been really interested in.  Sure you could argue that taking a back foot until you are affected is the wrong way to go about things, but honestly there are more important things to worry about,  Like the next question.

Jim: Are videogames destroying society?

Head over to iHateWork now and join the Chat.

Head over to iHateWork now and join the Chat.

Fonz: Nah that’s just a government scare tactic, so that parents force their kids to go outside and play, we need to get childhood obesity down people.

Jim: You have the opportunity to travel throughout time and prevent one game from ever being created. What would the game be, and why?

Fonz: Super Mario Bros. 2… you pull up turnips and throw them at enemies, I mean come on!

Jim: If you were a mighty morphing power ranger, what colour would you be?

Fonz: The Red one, bar the helmet he wears the same outfit as Eddie Murphy in Delirious.

Jim: Thanks for your time Fonz.
