I recently had the privilege of some “Hands-on” with this game at a Ubisoft Retailers evening in held in Sydney at the Greenwood Hotel, Nth Sydney. You need to see that place to appreciate it. And naturally, under strict press embargo rules, I haven’t been able to discuss it – that is of course, until now. Shaun White’s Snowboarding is here, well almost, and it is about to make an impression with anyone that plays it or let alone sees it.

While the build we played was around 75% complete, and had a few issues, which is “normal” for any early build (hello Gears Of War 2 at Black beta), this game was brilliant even at that build level. Looks wise it is breathtaking, and at times one could be mistaken for thinking that you are watching a film on HBO or the Discovery Channel or a Sports Channel.

Interaction is excellent and this game is going to be one of, if not THE most thrilling of the snowboarding games coming out. The character animation was very fluid, and you honestly had a sense of ‘movement’ while whatching the screen with your character.

The mechanics were simple yet intuitive and it is an easy “pick-up-n-play” style of game. No huge learning curve or complicated button-mashing involved to pull off some top tricks.

So take a look at the UPlay trailer and decide for yourself. But make sure you put a few $$’s aside each week so that when it does ship, you’ll have the green to nab a copy. Hopefully we’ll have a few to give away when the time comes, providing I can wrestle it out of the hands of the crew, or better still, if they can pry it out of my 360 . . .
