OXCGN Takes On New Team Look
As the site changes, so do the roles to manage it

As many have noticed, our name has officially changed to OXCGN (Oz Xbox Community Gamers Network). The original name of XboxOZ360 was simply a carry-on from my GamerTag, and became quite popular. However, it sure as hell was a mouthful to say when introducing oneself to developers and publishers, let alone other gaming sites.
We pondered long and hard about the various names, looking at odd-sounding ones, ones that related to the Xbox 360, or ones that looked at just one area or another. However, knowing that the Xbox 360 is not the end of the line for MS Xbox-Div, we’ve decided to drop the whole 360 bit ‘per-se’ and simply stick to the Xbox as a platform. Makes much more sense in the long-term. Well we think so anyhow.
You as readers have helped the site grow, and while the site has yet to bring in any financial support, we do hope to change that in the near future, which will allow for further development of the site as a whole. Simply by being a reader you increase our traffic flow and thus make the site a desirable thing to work on and be associated with. We hope to keep your interest with honest reviews, commentary on issues, community involvement, prizes, and fresh news that marks us as offering something a bit different to what’s already out there.
As well as some of our other modifications, the administration section has undergone some changes as well. So I’d like to re-introduce you to some existing administrators, as well as a few new ones. The Staff Contributors are still there, powering away, without whom the site would be an empty page on the web with no content.
New members to the Admin team are:
• Editor: Steve Sutton (aka Sutton Dagger);
Steve has been with the site now for some time, and expressed an interest to support it further in the move forward. He has a background in education and has just begun his teaching career in the public schooling system. Check Steven’s Bio out for full details.
• Sub Editor: David Hilton (aka dkpatriarch)
David has a long history in – well – history, including a book on Nazi Germany published for students. He has also been a writer for a few magazines here in Australia, including Australian 360 Magazine. A family man with three children, he brings a level of understanding of “family values” to the sites’ administration team. Check David’s Bio out for full details.
• Assistant Editor In Chief: Lee Edgerton (aka DarkArmarda)
Lee continues his role as assistant Editor In Chief to help me in various aspects of the site. He’s there when and if necessary should I become unavailable to do my task due to any unforeseen circumstances. I trust Lee’s judgment, and his dedication in wanting the site to move forward and grow. Check Lee’s bio out for full details.
• Editor In Chief: Grant Smythe (aka XboxOZ360)
Well of course that’s me. I may be an “older gamer” by the extreme measure, but I have a deep love for games and keen interest in the gaming industry. I’m excited that the site provides an avenue where others can have an opportunity to expand their skills through writing about the hobby or passion they all share – gaming- and that so many read and comment on our work. Check my Bio out for full details.
The site is not about me, it’s about us as a team, and as gamers first and foremost. We are not Xbox fanboys, nor are we biased towards just the Xbox platform.
Many of us have other consoles and enjoy playing the various games offered by other platforms, but simply chose to support one major one, rather than all three, or even just two.
If you as a reader have any constructive feedback on what we could add or what you like or dislike about the site then please do share that with us by emailing us directly and letting us know. We’d be only too glad to hear what your thoughts are on the site. After all, it is for your enjoyment the site was created, not just ours.
A note to all who think Blogs are personal diaries:
Many major gaming sites (approx 70-80%) are in fact blogs or sites run with blogging software. Some you may have visited include Joytiq, Destructoid, Xbox360Fanboy (and it’s subsidiaries) and many many more. This is not to mention all the more prominent news sites which run blogging software. A site like ours seeks to delve deeper into issues raised by news or other gaming content we come across and offer a commentary that we think is interesting. We always welcome reader commentary and discussion.
