GT5 not out until 2010 09 at earliest.

News straight from Kazunori Yamauchi himself = NOT Bogus.

Prologue to receive constant updates for possibly next 18 12 months!

Recent Update: Please read BEFORE going to the article and follow the links:

In order to clear up the confusion over the supposed release date of GT5, here is a link explaining the possible scenario around how the interview from Import Tuner has become the centre of conjecture for so many. It’s obvious that the site (Import Tuner) did not do the correct thing and even date their interview or timeline it with their published issue.

So for all intents and purposes, one could reasonably assume that if they posted a recent item, that it did in fact only happen recently, not 5  or even 7 months earlier. Yes, we did place the item up, and yes we did do this without checking the date of the interview. Point is, we can not take back what Yamauchi did say on both occassions (interviews). So we have supplied links for you to check out the most recent news on the subject.

Plus we still have the facts that Yamauchi did in fact make the two statements with him stating the dates of 2009 and 2010 as possible release dates, only to then contradict those dates later on in further interviews.

Anyhow, here’s the link again at GTPlanet. Hope this helps clear up some misconceptions. Keep in mind that the article below is mostly about the sad fact around developers pushing dates around so much without too much regard for the end user. If all developers did this, and used this method, we’d have far less games being released, and a pile of “updates” being dished out that we still had to pay for as a retail product. Thanks to: WheelMan

Update:

• Here is a Link commenting about Yamauchi stating it will be out Christmas 2009, and laughing at the 2010 comment . . mind you HE was the one that made the 2010 comment himself, so he has no one to blame for that comment . . Thanks to: Adrian,

• Here’s a link to a PS3 site commenting on the VERY SAME article and interview – seems okay for a Sony site to run the article, but not a Xbox site – odd isn’t it . . . Thanks to: Harbinger,

• Another from GTPlanet where he asks . . why are you saying that. Oddly enough he must have forgotten his OWN comments in the earlier interview where HE stated 2009 or 2010. Thanks to: NOT BIASED WEBSITE gamer

On a side note:

Sony Fanbois, PLEASE do try growing up. Gamers, as opposed to Fanbois, do not care which platform a game comes out on, so long as it’s a great game, that it is enjoyable, entertaining and gives value for money and is – dare I say – FUN.

Members here at OXCGN are NOT Fanbois, we have PS3s, PS2s, PSPs, iPhones, Dreamcasts, Nintendos etc, but we simply choose the Xbox as our platform of choice – so please – get over it and grow up. Plus a special thanks to those “mature” Sony fans willing to support us in this, and who clearly see what we are attempting to do . . . be a gaming site . . . your support is most appreciated.

Prolouge to receive constant updates for possibly 18 months!

Prologue to receive constant updates for possibly 18 months!

Yes, this is a Xbox site, and no, you’re not seeing or reading things due to too much Christmas wine or drinks or pudding. I’m a racing fan, pure and simple, and this just smacks of pure ignorance and disregard for supporters of the title.

What are they thinking … the game is well into full development, and they are putting it off another 18 months, if not more.

Fans will not be happy campers, that is for sure.

Snippet from interview with Kazunori Yamauchi

• From an earlier interview with Kazunori Yamauchi which has since been rebuffed by himself, please see links above in the Updates which clear proposed release dates up.

As good as Prologue is, what can we expect in the full version of GT 5?
“To be honest, I haven’t given a lot of thought to GT 5, so I don’t have an answer. And it’s too early to talk about GT 5 because we still have updates coming out for Prologue.”

Is there an ETA on GT 5?
“It won’t be this year and nothing’s scheduled for next. It may be out in 2010, but like I said, we haven’t really discussed it yet.”

If every developer did that, they’d simply have one game with constant updates . . really . . . Sure, I’m certainly not doubting the games popularity, which is huge, and something which the developers are playing on. A typical Japanese trend actually. They believe they have all the power and fans will simply wait . . period. Much like Sony has done – in the past – not so much now. They learned their lesson.

gt5-tIf Forza (Turn10), Grid (Codemasters) , Colin McRae (Codemasters), PGR franchise (Bizarre Creations) did this, fans would be screaming blue bloody murder from the top of the tallest buildings and the forums and net would be alight with screams of protest. All making comments along the line of “how dare those stupid developers do that . . . I want a game every few years, not one game every decade” etc etc.

They need to put out a game each 2 years, which allows the a year in pre-release period to work on the future iteration, like every other normal developer does, and they SELL copies and people would buy the NEXT iteration at the same rate, making them more $$ and getting the same, if not more support from fans.

This is a slap in the face to any GT5 supporter, basically saying, well we don’t care how much you might want it, you’re not getting until we’re ready, even if that takes 5 yrs . .and that 2010 is only a “rough time frame”. What happens if they come out mid 2010 and say . . well, we’ve had to advance the game as the PS3 has had advances (or Sony has put the PS4 out) so we have to re-work the game or do more to it.

gt5See what I mean.

No company, developers or even design studio can simply put off the product until it’s perfect, there’s no such thing as perfect or up todate. It will no sooner go into pre-release lock down, several weeks before suggested release, and they’ll decide to put more in it.

Developers get to a stage where they can no longer put more in the current edition/iteration. They must put those advances and assets aside and assign a smaller team to work on the next iteration, while the current team finalizes the current release game.

This is how ALL developers do their games, which is why the next GRAW or Rainbow Six are well under way now, (both will be released 2009) and COD6 has been in production for well over 8-10 months now, even though COD5 was only released a little while ago, irrespective of the development house doing the task.

impp_0811_03_zgran_turismo_5kazunori_yamauchiPolyphony think they are the God’s gift to racing genre, bar none, and I seriously believe it will cost them dearly. However, I also see many blinded fans simply saying, “oh that’s all right, they know what they are doing, I’d rather wait, . . . they can do anything they want . . I’ll just sit on my hands for the next 2 years . . blah blahh blahh” If I was a full paying member of the Sony Fraternity, I’d be setting up pickets at Poloyphony’s studios front doors.

It’s bloody ridiculous actually, and almost completely cavalier as to the desire to please fans, which is ideally what a developer creates games for. The fun and enjoyment of the game by fans across the globe.

He’s (Kazunori Yamauchi) simply interested in making the game for himself and no one else. He even admits to NOT playing ANY other game in his spare time . . .The game will NEVER be finished.

Besides GT, are there any other games that you play?
“No, not really.”

Not even other driving games?
“No. It’s more fun to drive real cars”

Actually, if any other dev house did that for their games, we’d have continual “updates’ and no real advancements on each game . . Basically, WHEN – GT5 comes around, the Updates on Prologue will mean the final game will be basically little different to Prologue . .so why have the finished game . . . honestly.

Yes, I’m a Forza 2 – Forza 3 fan (read nut), but I’m also a racing fan, and if I had a PS3, Prologue woul dbe stuck in the machine day and night, as it’s an excellent title in the genre. But if Turn10, or Bizarre Creations did this sort of thing, I’d drop them like a ton of hot bricks and simply NOT buy their game from a purly principle standpoint.

  1. Yes, it always takes a longer-than-expected time for games of this caliber to come out. I’m a PS3 guy, but think the 360 is pretty cool and has a lot going for it…

But let’s be serious? How long were 360 fans waiting for Halo3 to come out? Or Half-Life (anything) for the PC? Or the 360 itself? Or the next shipment of Wiis at WalMart? Or a condiment that combined both mayonaise AND mustard?? OR THE NEXT INSTALLMENT OF BARBIE HORSE ADVENTURES????//

    etc.

  2. “He’s (Kazunori Yamauchi) simply interested in making the game for himself and no one else. He even admits to NOT playing ANY other game in his spare time . . .The game will NEVER be finished.”

I suppose if he said that he played other games in his spare time, he’d be putting that before getting GT5 out earlier. Can’t win either way, eh?

Give Polyphony time – they know what they’re doing, how else would they be in the position they are today as market leaders for their genre?

    • That is complete horse crap!!! Give them more time? I have always been a huge fan of GT, ever since the first. but really…the damn game was supposed to be a RELEASE TITLE for the PS3. So they release a watered down version to keep you interested (smart move on their part). Then they finalize the date only to change it when they are within only a couple of months. I do like forza, but something is still missing from it. Polyphony just needs to finalize it and release it . And they will still have to come out with another one like everyone else. It makes sense for the bottom line if they do it they most people do.

  3. I agree that GT5′s constantly delayed release date is annoying. If you miss your mark by years, chances are you never should have made the mark in the first place. While I dislike an unfinished game as much as the next guy, there is a point where you have to stop, or else no game would ever be released. Often, that means setting a limit on the amount of content that you can include.

I am frankly dumbfounded by the amount of fanboyism is some of these responses, especially from those who have not played the games that they’re insulting. Until you have seen and played Forza in-depth, you really shouldn’t go bashing it. GT4 may have been a better DRIVING simulator than Forza 1, but Forza 1 was the better RACING simulator. Calling Forza 2 or Grid’s damage “half-arsed” (to quote a fellow commenter) doesn’t even come close to giving it the credit it deserves – have you played either game? I HIGHLY doubt that GT5 will have completely true-to-life damage – I just don’t believe that it is realistically possible on the current generation of hardware, even IF the automakers gave it the go-ahead, which they won’t.

For the record, I am an Xbox 360 owner who loves Forza 2, loved Forza 1 in its time, and who played GT3 and still likes and plays some GT4. I don’t own a PS3 (yet), and I made my choice due to a number of factors – The 360 was cheaper ($200 at the time), had what seemed to be a better online interface (at the time – I don’t know how the PSN stacks up to XBL now, although I am still very happy with XBL), and, most importantly, had games that I wanted. At the time, that meant PGR3, which provided me with over a year of highly enjoyable online racing until Forza 2 came out. I will probably end up owning a PS3 at some point, but it will require some additional price drops, and a system selling game – AKA GT5 (although I would get Little Big Planet at the same time, that game – as much as I want it – is not a system seller for me). Until then, I will continue to enjoy Forza, Dirt, Grid, and the PGR games, along with other excellent games such as GTAIV, CoD4, etc. But when GT5 comes out, saying to a PS3 is going to be hard.

In the end, let’s all try to be a little more open minded.

  4. Ouch…

“It’s obvious that the site (Import Tuner) did not do the correct thing and even date their interview or timeline it with their published issue.”

And you didn’t do your research properly, which I believe is the greater “sin” of the two, especially in journalism…

“Keep in mind that the article below is mostly about the sad fact around developers pushing dates around so much without too much regard for the end user. If all developers did this, and used this method, we’d have far less games being released, and a pile of “updates” being dished out that we still had to pay for as a retail product.”

Why do people believe it is their right to have a game at a given time? Get a life! Sure, it’s nice to actually have something when it’s been “promised”, but the simple fact is that developers almost never promise a given release window, which has always been the case (i.e. for the last 30-odd years!) and they are usually only forced into giving estimates as a result of constant badgering from the greedy public.
The updates to Prologue have all been free so far (excluding DLC such as videos etc., as with many current games) so I’m not sure why you mention retail costs here.

“Another from GTPlanet where he asks . . why are you saying that. Oddly enough he must have forgotten his OWN comments in the earlier interview where HE stated 2009 or 2010.”

“Nine” and “Ten” sound quite similar in Japanese; convenient? Possibly… If you read the linked forum thread, you’ll see that the “why are you saying that” comment is (inadvertently?) taken out of context in this quotation (tsk, tsk!)

For everybody’s future reference, I’d like to personally recommend GTPlanet.net for all GT5 related news; their screening is better than most, and they even have some “industry” members frequenting, with tasty tid-bits on occasion…

By the way, congratulations in your choice of picture for Yamauchi-san – he actually looks hurt by your cruel comments in the article! :D

  5. GT5 is an example of games that make for gamers/people not entirely for the for the money/commercial shit etc…sure a lot of time needed to make this game so great for fullfill the gamers request & for self satisfaction (for KY himself)..to me it pains to wait but im respected they do the best just for gamers..You all can play other racing games but to me GT is untouchable on many aspects no offence..so let the guys do the work!

  6. A little clarification on how this mess started. The article was first posted on ps3center.com
    http://www.ps3center.net//news/2036/No-Gran-Turismo-5-Until-2010-at-Earliest/
(it is removed now, but the URL tells you what the article was) with the date in the article. it was was fairly new and linked back to the import tuner website which had no date as to when the interview was posted. The interview was then posted on game Grep going on the date that was provided from ps3center as new. The article was then posted on oxcgn.com, which made its way to n4g and so on. So I think the main reason why this all started was that import tuner did not place a time date on their interview, thus confusing ps3center and causing a chain reaction. So no site is really to blame (unless you want to blame import tuner)

  7. Brad

Why should we pull an article, . . . . while it may well be old, it is still news worthy and does point out inconsistancies with the developer on what he says he says and what he does say in interviews.

If it were about a Xbox title, we’d do the same, and have done the same. Do you see the Times pulling an article, or IGN, or GameSTop, GameIndustry News.biz . .no

They will however, place up “updates” that correct the information and offer links to verify said information. That in it’s self give more credibility, than “pulling” an article.

It show’s you’re ready to stand by what you have posted, and willing to cop any flack for doing so. BUt it also shows you are willing to correct any misconceptions or misinformation that may appear.

Pulling an article does not do any site any justice whatsoever. In fact, we’ve gotten praise for sticking to our guns and posting updates and even making it public that we may have made an error, be it intentional, or not.

Some advice, be proud of what you write, stick by what you do write, and offer your readers an ‘explaination’ as to why a ‘retraction’ or an update has been posted. That way they know that are a site of “your word” . .not a site wanting to hide your mistakes . .

If that makes sense. BTW, I’m certainly not having a go at you, although, I am however a little stunned as to why you ( a site owner.writer) think it’s wrong or odd a xbox site post information on a Sony title.

Especially when Sony/Nintendo sites do it all the time, or for the fact it’s not about Sony per-se’, but about a developer who just doesn’t seem to be able to make up “his mind” as to when the game may be released, and makes ‘conflicting” statements in different interviews.

This is why we ‘record” all our interviews (with permission of course) . So we have irrefutable evidence of what has been said, and in what context.

Plus, with regard to the person being interviewed “laughing off” the statements . . . instead of simply ‘correcting’ his comments and saying, well no, after some thought, we do think we’ll have it out in 2009 etc. . .

That would be far better than ‘laughing it off, which others could construe as if he never made the initial comment, and that some sites were making things up . . . it’s called publicity . . . again, not rying to cause problems, just make it clear that no one should hide from whatthey say, but own up to anything they may have said wrong publically. That alone build more creed than shying away from it, or pulling items off the page . .if that makes sense . . ?

  8. Lol.. well I was also caught in this and posted an article about it, but when I realised the information was old, I pulled it… it;s going to leave a bad reputation makign people wonder about the quality and accuracy of your work…forget GameGrep, forget Import Tuner, let them take the heat for a foolish mistake. I think Yamauchi laughing of his own comments isn’t really a big sweat. The timing between both statements was pretty far apart.

I guess if you initially say 2010, then come a while after and say 2009, and make a little joke about it…no problem…

  9. @ Brad

I think the last update will shed light on not only this site having a great deal of confusion around the issue, but many other sites. It’s more to do with Import Tuners manner of making the news public than anything else.

They were the ones to post the interview (albeit again) on Game Grep last week, 1.30hrs before this site posted it. It came directly from Import Tuner, and this article here is neither about PS3, but more to dod with a developer issuing updates rather than a full retail product years down the track.

I’m certainly not on a fanboi bandwagon, but a racing fan who’s upset that a great game can be pushed around like this with little regard to those that make it a success in the first place. The supporters.

I think the link in the most recent update will shed a great deal of light on the subject. Hope that answers your questions.?

And IT posted it not just a “bit late” but try 6 months later, as it was only posted LAST WEEK on Game Grep (thurdsday just gone if I’m not mistaken) . . I’d say that qualifies for more than “a bit late” . .

Plus the interview doe shave Haz Ya stating it could see a late 2009 or 2010 release, then in further interviews, laughing off his OWN comments . . . So he in the end was the one making the comments, not Import Tuner or any other source.

If I or this site was a fanboi site, do you think that we’d 1) publish comments against us, 2) continue to update the article with links to verify the information given, and give credit to those sending us the information . .? No, didn’t think so.

  10. Just because Import Tuner posted it, doesnt mean you have to be the idiot and continue to defend yourself into a ditch. The CEO clearly laughed off the 2010 information, and a 2009 release schedule came up 3 times afterwards this interview…IT just posted this info a bit too late… so you better stop complaining about people bashing you…and just pull this story.

  11. Oz – could you please jump off the fanboyism for a minute and tell me why you’re posting information that has clearly been marked as old? Why havent u pulled this article? Cheap hits maybe?

  12. GTPlanet has a new article about the age of this Import Tuner interview. You might want to update your post:

    http://www.gtplanet.net/more-gran-turismo-5-release-date-confusion/

  13. LOL at this site trying to slam Gran Turismo 5 and its developers. Stick to your Forza, PGR, ect. Just because those games a spewed out every 2 years doesn’t mean Gran Turismo needs to be. The GT series is just on another level and you’ll see this with Gran Turismo 5. I’ll have Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and other PS3 exclusives to keep me busy till then. You must’ve ran out of XBOX 360 news since you had to resort to this. Fail.

  14. First off, sorry to those ppl who’s comments didn’t appear yesterday, but it was Christmas day (we are ahead of the US remember) and some of us do have other things to do that check websites during a family days celebrations, as well as my sons Birthday celebrations . . . . Which was/is way more important than this website.

Thanks to those who supplied links on other interviews, I will be including them in the article today (giving you credit even for doing so, even if you’re a one-etyed Sony Fanbou – jk btw) as I believe in putting all the facts up if presented with them. SO thanks for those links, most appreciated.

Secondly, I am amazed at the insane amount of Fanboism exhibited here, and on other sites. I am a race genre’ fan, love all types of good racing games and therefore look forward to ANY racing game coming out (try reading the article). Oh, and I happen to own and run an Xbox site, terrible of me isn’t it.

Thing is, if you (those complaining) were to be not so bloody biased, and who claim to be racing fans, then you’d be playing any racing game irrespective of platform. STOP being so one-eyed, and the rest of the world will stop saying that Sony Fanbois are the WORST fanbous on the internet. Because comments such as you’re exhibiting here clearly show your immaturity . . . .

For thos who say this is old new. Well, it may well be, but it was gleaned from the Import Tuner site who posted it the same day I did on Game Grep. THEY were theone who posted it, along with the article and interview . .

Plus, to those who say well it’s coming 2009 (Christmas) because Kazunori Yamauchi said it was 2009 and laughed at the 2010 statement . . Well HE was the one who made the 2010 statement in the FIRST place in the interview.

No one made up that, his words were “It won’t be this year and nothing’s scheduled for next. It may be out in 2010, but like I said, we haven’t really discussed it yet.” Then he back peddles and says HE didn’t say that . .well, he did.

There’s nothing wrong with back-peddling on your statements, so long as you own up to it in the first place. So if it does appear in Christmas 2009, that will be great, in the mean time Forza 3 will have been released, yes, it’s being released in 2009 – about mid-year if I’m not mistaken (insider info), and the 2 million CURRENT gamers playing it NOW will have it, (plus the many others eagerly awaiting it) and then when GT5 it comes out. Those real gamers who simply enjoy racing games, will ALSO have it (GT5) as well as Grid, DiRT, and any other racing game out.

It’s almost as if Sony fans expect xbox fans NOT to even consider liking the PS2/PS3/PSP etc . . many of us do, but we chose to have the Xbox as our main choice of platform for various reasons. Not because it’s THE BEST . .or that the PS3 STINKS . .- It’s because we simply made a choice based on our “PERSONAL” needs and circumstances.

SO for goodness sake, STOP making your selves look like idiots and immature children (which most of you obviously are) and show some simple “gamers manners” and accept that ANYONE can enjoy more than one platform and anyone can be a “Gamer” if they are willing to put aside their bias and preduces and simply enjoy GAMING for gamings sake.

  15. gt prologue bored me to tears after five mins never mind five years

  16. Yeah, that interview’s either out of date or Kaz just can’t make up his mind.

@ Adrian: There’s no way we’re getting 900 cars. Kaz has said that even 500-600 would be impossible. Try 350 or less.

@ Everyone questioning the reasoning behind a 360 site posting GT news: the author said he was a racing fan, pure and simple. There’s no room to be biased when you want to fully enjoy your favorite hobbies. I don’t understand fanboyism; you guys really need to grow up.

Since GT4 came out about four years after GT3, I’ll give Polyphony until Christmas ’09 before I start worrying. I’m not “blind,” I’m just still getting a LOT of use out of GT4, so I’m not all that bothered. They look like they’re doing a damn fine job anyway, so why the whining?

  17. Hmm..funny that a 360 website is doing an article about a PS3 Exclusive. That would be like me doing an article on Alan Wake..when is that game suppose to hit stores again??

How about you worry about your games and we worry about ours?? ;D

  18. sorry its already been said it will be available holidays 2009. This is streight from polyphony.

  19. The information here is now considered to be false because Yamauchi later said the game is now coming in 2009. This is a total waste of post and I think it should be pulled because you are spreading wrong information.

  20. Get your news up to date please….

Kaz himself laughed at the comments made by Ahmed Al Azmi (middle east winner) when he questioned if GT5 will be released in after 2009

    Stop Bull****ing…..

First of all i asked him about the Nurburgring, when its coming ? and what takes it so long? and i told him that alot of people waiting for such a great track.

-K.Y simply said its gonna be in GT5

    - then i said GT5!!!! Ohh my God !! thats way to far from now.

    - “he laughed” and said : why are you saying that ?

-Me: because of what i know is that the team still didn’t think even of targeting a release date for GT5 and to be honest i dont believe GT5 will come before 2 years which is a long time/

-K.Y : “2 years hahaha, no no. dont worry much about that its gonna be sooner than expected”

  21. Why is everyone complaining about a xbox site reporting on a ps3 game. it still has value that sprea through out other games. And if anyone is interested, this was originaly posted by ps3cent.ernet. Yes thats right a PS3 website reporting the same news!!!!! so stop bashing the site. Here is a think to the article, but as you can see they have taken it down for some reason, but if you read the URL it pretty much is the headline of the article.

    http://www.ps3center.net//news/2036/No-Gran-Turismo-5-Until-2010-at-Earliest/

  22. fanboys there, microsoft here.
GT5 pwnz all 360 games which are copied from sony games/ideas.

  23. So basically the point being made is that gamers would like to buy an update (but an incomplete one) for a game they already own, every couple of years, rather than wait for a title that the developer really believes is the best they could have done at the time.

If that is true, is it any wonder why games are increasingly becoming stagnant and feel stale?

You make a wonderful case as for why developers should continue to rip us off every couple of years with a v1.2, for the same full price – purely because we still buy the bloody things for the full price – but as a gamer, I personally liked it when companies didn’t put something out until they felt it was worth their fans’ time and money. Anyone who’s been into Sports games for a while will understand this annoyance with ‘incremental upgrades’ each year or two.

Will done Polyphony – It may not be a popular philosophy these days, but it’s an honest and mature one that sits well with me.

  24. Stopping worrying about PS3 games and start worrying about Alan Wake, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Huxley, etc.

  25. LOL a 360-fanboy-site want to bashing a sony game = FAIL.
Look at Forza vs Gran Turismo HD (free; PSN). GTHD pwnz Forza 2 in graphics. GT5 have more than 800 cars, car-damage-system, 100 of maps and realistic graphics!

    Killzone 2 > GeoW2

  26. Not the first time PS3 owners have been longing for a game for a long time (Final Fantasy XIII/Versus XIII, Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier).

However, very much like those 3 games, Gran Turismo 5 will sell no matter how long it takes to come out, because the franchise is well known and respected for their undisputable dominance in their particular genre (In this case racing).

As has been mentioned before, the prospect of a 2010 release date for this game is (According to the guys over at Polyphony Digital) laughable. They said in an interview that GT5 would be here “Sooner than anyone thinks” which hints at a release closer to Spring 2009 then Summer 2010. Remember – GT5 has already been delayed, it was originally supposed to come out in Winter 2008.

If the worst comes to worst and GT5 does end up being delayed again, what would it mean? Absolutely nothing. Do you think Final Fantasy XIII will sell any less because of it’s ridiculously long development time? Did GTA:IV or MGS4 sell any less despite their delays??? Polyphony Digital are perfectionists and i’d rather have a perfect racing game then settle for any of the imitating piss that the market’s being flooded with in the absence of a full GT game (No disrespect to Grid, that game was fantastic).

If Forza 3 or PGR5 come out next year against GT5 they will become the laughing stock of the gaming industry, everyone knows those games couldn’t hold a candle to GT5 in terms of graphics, sound, gameplay, content, realism or any other gameplay aspect you could possibly think of. If i were Microsoft, i’d be hoping Gran Turismo 5 doesn’t come out next year so it doesn’t completely embarass the 360′s racing line – up.

I’m pretty sure we’ll be seing GT5 next year but even if we don’t, all it means is that we have to wait a little while longer for the best racing game ever. It’s not like there’s any game announced that could even come close to taking Polyphony’s racing crown now or ever…………………

  27. LOL an xbox fanboy-site tries to bashing a SONY PS3 game. omg… Gran Turismo 5 will pwnd all Xbox 360 copied games.

    Gran Turismo = Forza
    Singstar = Lips
    Buzz = Scene It
Little Big Planet = Project Boku

and and and. Forza 3 will never released! MicroShit is spending money for copying other games (from Sony). Xbots.

  28. You must be asamshed criticising one of the best studios in the world that produce magnificent games Ok u have a point that they take a bit too much to develop it but everybody agrees that it takes time to develop a game especially gt5 with 900 cars and 50 tracks so I will be happy to wait in order to have a fantastic game. Gt5 the best and you`re the worst

  29. Developers can’t win can they? If they release a game before it’s finished they get moaned at and if they actually want to finish it – ditto. The reason GT5 is taking so long is down to vehicle damage. All the tossers have been moaning about Gran Turismo not having damage in it, so Yamauchi has added damage. And guess what? It won’t be the half-arsed efforts seen in Forza and Grid, it will be full-blown race-authentic damage, which takes ages to do because it will need to be modeled for each car and deals negotiated with each manufacturer.

So, Grant Smythe, next time you’re looking for someone to blame for GT5′s delay, just look in the mirror.

  30. this is pethetic first its comming out october 2008 than mid 09 than late 09 now 2010 hey we have a new record for the most delayed title move asside haze GT5 now gets your spot

  31. quality…

but you xbots dont know much bout that.

    quality not quantity

  32. The same game every 2 years huh? Need for Speed baby, finished.

  33. Are you guys really that low on 360 news that you have to talk/bash on PS3 Exclusive titles and their developers? Jesus I’m glad they’re taking their time attempting to make the game “perfect.” Even if you claim it’s not achievable it doesn’t mean they shouldn’t try to. All of their games have been GREAT and if they have to delay the game to 2010 to make sure this game is as great as the others I’m all for it. Cause quite frankly 09 is already packed with PS3 exclusives.

And as you can see, GT5 is packed with WAY more material than your normal racing game.

  34. how about u get a ps3 first?

  35. Why on earth a Xbox 360 talks so much about a Playstation 3 exclusive title?
Is here someone worried about Gran Turismo 5? If yes why?

Ps: very old rumor. Try again desperate fanboys.

  36. I’m not sure how recent the interview you guys found, but here is a link to a VERY more recent article with Kazunori about GT5 and where he “laughed at a 2010 release”, implying that GT5 will come out in 2009. GT5 may not come out in the U.S. in 2009, but after reading the more recent interview, I think it will come out in Japan and/or Europe late 2009.

    http://www.gtplanet.net/kazunori-yamauchis-best-interview-ever/

  37. “If Forza (Turn10), Grid (Codemasters) , Colin McRae (Codemasters), PGR franchise (Bizarre Creations) did this, fans would be screaming blue bloody murder from the top of the tallest buildings and the forums and net would be alight with screams of protest”

Just in case you guys don’t know, the Gran Turismo series is somewhat known for delays. I remember Gran Turismo 4 was delayed numerous times for it was officially released.

And why should a Xbox site like this even care about the release date of GT5?

I think a lot of people tend to forget how much content is actually going into this game… I mean, over 900 cars, the most realistically detailed cars in ANY racing game… a game of this calibur takes time. When released, GT5 will have more content than Forza, GRID, and PGR Combined.

If GT5 doesn’t come out until 2010, that’s fine with me because the constant updates to GT5 Prologue will keep me busy as well as other 2009 PS3 exclusives.

I looked at the article and didn’t see a date when it was written, so it could be old. There was a more recent interview with Kazunori about a month or two ago where he “laughed at a 2010 release”, implying that the game will hit sometime in 2009 (most likely late 2009), so I’ll take this with a grain of salt.

I grew up playing Gran Turismo on the Playstation and there’s no way I would stop buying the games just because it’s not coming out when I want it. Gran Turismo is a huge franchise and has many faithful followers and they aren’t going anywhere.
