OXCGN lists 133 Games For The 360 in ’09
by XboxOZ360:
©2009 Grant Smythe
As we find more, we will certainly update the list, and the heading as it progresses (up or down).
So what we have here is a “relatively” short list of games – (133 games), ideally heading to the Xbox 360 during 2009.
While many factions (read fanbois) say there are very little games coming out on the 360 this year, and that it’s doomed because there’s “no games” – we’re here to set the record straight and show you what games are heading our way in 2009.
Please note: Some games may well have been released in some regions, but not in all, so if a game has been released in your region, do not dismiss the list as inaccurate, as many PAL territories are yet to receive these releases.
Many of these games are known entities, some are not so well known but have certainly made an impression over the last year or so as they moved towards completion or as news of them has come to hand.
While we could all say that many games do not make it to “street dates”, or actually end up being finished, it would be remiss of us not to make the list as varied and inclusive as possible. We’d rather live in hope that some of the more obscure games are coming, rather than looking at the recession and thinking cynical thoughts.
You also need to remember, that many publishers, once a contract is “inked”, have a tendency to be a little ‘mum’ on the game until they are ready to push it publicly. So you might find some that have not been mentioned, popping up and made available for release this year.
• By the way, Fanbois are NOT welcome here, so if you’ve come along to diss any games or state so-and-so platform will never see it because blah blah blah . . . then please, do us all a favour and head off to some other part of the internet. We want to discuss games here, not who has the ‘better’ games this year or which platform sucks. Yes many are Multiplatform, so what !? They are GAME’s
So enjoy the list and let us know your thoughts on some of the games

Make sure you keep an eye on the OXCGN 360 Game Listing for 2009/10. It will be updated throughout the year as new games are announced or uncovered, and those confirmed cancelled are removed. The listing covers games that are still under “project names”, code names, simply mentioned as high possibilities by developers in interviews, or if plausible information has been unearthed.
For any game to go into the listing it must have at least 2 sources of information and links so that the reader gets as much info as possible.
Plus, if YOU know of any game aimed at the 360, be it exclusive, or multiplatform, then send us an email right away, and we’ll credit you with the find in the listing, and the game could well make itself know in our OXCGN Radar Trap section we are setting up for 2009.

Will see what I can do Anthony, not saying yes, or no, it’s just very time consuming atm mate . . . but I’ll look into it.
Can you put a star next to the ones that are exclusive?
Excellent work Grant – will keep for reference.
Thanks mate, most appreciated indeed. It will be added onto as we find more, plus the other listing still remains and grows/shrinks etc. I just can’t get my head around those who complain about games on a list, when that is all it is, a LIST, not gosple, or set in stone, simply a guide for gamers to use to see what could be coming and who’s publishing it.
Thanks for checking it out mate.
i THINK iM JUST BEING A LITTLE BITCH RIGHT NOW. bUT SOME OF THESES GAMES
a) ARENT OF OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED
OR
b) HAVE NO ACTUAL RELEASE DATE YET MEAN THEY MIGHT NOT COME OUT IN 2009
Sorry mate, but your other post was deleted due to inpropper language and breaking the TOU and COC on the site. If you want to post, that’s great, please do, but we will not accept any form of abuse or swearing on the site – period.
And it’s an idea to turn of CAPS, as that indicate SHOUTING, and is also frowned upon here, and in most forums or boards.
Thanks for sharing this excellent list.I’m not sure what all this console bashing is about with some folks.I’m very happy to be playing some excellent games and having lots of great choices.Having console exclusives is great but I’m sure everyone is tightening their belt on expenditures and risks. If I have time to play 10 great games a year that’s more than enough for me!
Thanks RM,
Personally I think there are way too many games, and that’s not all of them either. I have several more to add in the next few days, and there’s many more that will be announced as the year progresses from several developers, like the Need For Speed games (3 of them) announced yesterday by EA.
Having too many games actually is not good for gamers or the industry really, as it floods the market with great games, but each one only gets less than a week of real shelf time before a new one takes its place. Plus it does not allow gamers a proper time span to experience many of the games that are designed to be played long term.
I unfortunately see a pattern happening that could spell the end of many stealth like games, as many newer and younger games have less patience, or desire to take their time with a game, and therefore often diss it publicily. If a game gets anything below a 8.5/10, they diss it even further, yet a game that scores 7 in my book is a decent game and well worth PLAYING . . . And an 8/10, well that’s a must have, yet for some, it’s a no-buy.
Games such as Deus Ex 3, Halo War, Splinter Cell Convictions, Alan Wake, Velvet Assassin, To End All Wars and many others will be most likely shunned quickly, as they require some thinking and dare I say stratergy.
These games will be put aside in favour of the instant hit or rush and ones that don’t last too long (which they’ll complain about anyway) so they can trade it in for the next one etc etc etc.
It’s a sad day for gaming in many ways. yet a period when gamers per-se’ have never had it better – ever.
this is funny cuz most of these games are multi platform
so why is it FUNNY, the games are on the 360, the list is about games “appearing” oon the 360 . . Not games that are “exclusive”. It’s designed to let others know what is coming, simple as that.
Here is a bigger list with pics/videos
http://www.gamespot.com/pages/forums/show_msgs.php?topic_id=26715971
What do you think of it ?
Yes and thank you both for your opinions.
I believe the arrgument of the xbox 360 not having games in ’09 is to the exclusive type. If you filtered the list of Mutiplats vs. Exclusives i’m sure the list shrinks substantially. But again there are a lot of unannounced titles on both sides of the fence.
Competition makes for better games in the end.
If MS decides it is important to keep ME2 360 exclusive, they will do whatever it takes to make it so. People seem to be forgetting the MS equation here, the only reason bioshock or any of those games have gone to PS3 is because MS was not willing to underwrite the keeping of them exclusive.
The luxury of the 360s attach rate is that if MS wants an exclusive all they have to do is throw a little cash in the direction of the developer. It also hurts the PS3 that when you add the extra cost of development on that platform to the relatively low attach rate, the developers really don’t lose much if any money by not bringing games to that platform. Especially if you add in the cash MS would throw their way for exclusivity.
MS will be spending its money more on DLC exclusivity in the future, rather than huge sums on a game that could well cost them in excess of $US60 mil.
Halo 3 cost them a min $US50mil, plus they spent a further $US10 mil just ion advertizing and PR. With the current turn around on games closing (the current window is 2 weeks from launch to the game pettering off, they need to establish longer term strategies. So DLC content is the key, like it – or not. It’s what has kept the PC market going for years.
DOn’t get me wrong, I think Exclusives are important, but we are approaching a period where even MS has said openly that the day of the exclusive is fast approaching, or already here. Sony has also echoed this sentiment in several statements as well.
Thanks for the info. Most of the times when I see sites that anounce that ME2 is no longer exclusive you usually get a war about how “it will stay exclusive”-from Xbots or “It’s multi now Xbots suck that”-from Sony Droids.
Last question though, I’ve (obviously) never played the ME series so once it’s released will it be a must buy, a good game that I should wait for later, or all hype.
I’ve never really looked at reviews of the game but it’s becoming a hot topic among fanboys that it was inevitable that I would become curious about it.
I’m not a huge RPG style gamer, but I found the first one Mass Effect 1 really engrossing and to give it a proper play, you do need to dedicate a lot of time to it. SOmething many newer gamers seem unwilling to do. So they often diss a game and make silly comments about said game being “repeatative, boring, lame or dull.
When in fact, it’s notthe game per-se’, but the gamers inability to simply see the game how it was designed and meant to be played.
ME is one of those games that you need to sit down and become “involved” with. Much like Far Cry 2 is . .I’m only 68% through that, but have spent weeks playing it, and it is really an open sandbox, not a invisible wall – anywhere.
ME 2 will be one of those games that need time, patience and a love of “gaming” . . for the quick player after the Big Bang, forget it, grab Ninja Gaiden 2 or something similar, It ain’t what your’e looking for.
Answer your Q?’s ?
Alright as a PS3 owner I’ve never believed the 360 has no games this year stereotype.
But back to my question what is your stance on the Mass Effect 2 exclusivity. Since EA had bought Bioware and EA isn’t really the exclusive type and it wouldn’t be Bioware’s first PS3 game since Dragon Age Origins has that title of Bioware’s first PS3 game made.
I just want to see the an opinion through an Xbox 360 owner point of view so that the next time a discussion between me and my friends about this occur I wouldn’t be biased towards one side.
Mass Effect 2 and 3 will NOT be exclusive to the 360 . . . EA have BioWare now, and they are a MP publisher with much mor e need to publish games on allplatforms, not one.
However, EA doesn’t run Bioware, nor does it run any of the newer dev studios it has taken on under it Partnership Program, one of the best things EA has done in the last 6 yrs actually. Which is a great idea. It allows the studios to “do their thing” in the fashion they know how, so that the games stay true to their origins. Unlike the early EA of long-gone-times.
There’s no reason to keep Mass Effects exclusive, and in fact, more games will become MP than ever before, even those that were once Sony Exclusive only, will come to be MP in due course. Simply due to sheer economics, the huge user base and the penetration (software to console ratios etc) those platform shave combined.
When a publisher looks at a platform it looks at the sales of software to the platform for each hardware unit sold. Currently the rate is 8.1:1 on the 360 and the ps3 is around 5-6 ( I think it has slipped since I last saw a report?!) It then looks at how they can make the maximum profit against the investment, and if that is by going MP, then that is what they will do. No matter what the platform initially.
In these economic times, we’ll see many platform exclusive developers sitting on the fence, rather than choosing a side. They’ll have to, or face closure, or being gobbled up by larger entities.
Hope that answers your Q?’s mate ? let me know.
The way platforms will go in the future is to exclusive DLC where possible, or time limited DLC. Plus they will begin to start the DLC only soon. No retail Disc copy. The firstone is The Watchmen Part 1 and Part 2. They will ONLY be available as DLC through PSN, XboxLIVE and Steam. Part 1 and part 2 will onlybe separated by a few months, so as to coinside with the two movies.
This will be one of the first DLC games, and if it does well, expect other publishers to follow suit.
i think theres a boo boo. It says bolt pubed by disney interactive… But theres a game of BIKINI ZOMBIE SLAYER =D.
