Forza 3 Le Mans Announcement 12th June 09:
• UPDATE FOrza 3 in October 2009 More news here…..
Will Forza 3 include this famous circuit, and be announced on the 12th June, the day before the famous race? My educated guess is – YES. And it will be announced after the title has most likely been “officially confirmed” at E3.
The 24 HEURES DU MANS is run on the 13 – 14th June, so the date on the image fits in perfectly with pre-race announcements.
Thanks to our affiliate lvl2gamer we have this neat image of the track with the date “save the date” embedded on it.
• Official Debut Forza 3 Trailer
Well I can assure you, you WILL know about Forza 3 before the 12th June from OXCGN. We have an appointment with MS when we land in LA on four “secret games” to be announced during E3, and I’m 99% certain that Forza 3 is amongst those four titles.
I know that certain art assets have arrived at a Sydney firm for work to be begun on the confirmation of “certain titles”. This usually has a 3-4 month lead up window before release, making it around the November period, which would fit in with my predictions of a Nov 11-12th Release date for Forza 3 (OXCGN’s prediction for release, not an official statement).
The Le Mans announcement will be to confirm that Forza 3 will have it as part of the itinerary for the game, and most likely an integral part of the game’s career mode . . most likely. That would be around 1 week after E3, which gives them plenty of mileage post E3, and a secondary boost after that to stretch it further.
All makes for good marketing strategy actually.
It would make perfect sense to have it at Le Mans, giving the game 3 full days, including the day of the announcement, to be in the world’s eye. It would be a perfect launching pad (excuse the pun) for the game, with E3 still hot on the gaming press, ensuring it has further public (as well as gamer) notice.
Being a car nut and fan, I’d have my money on the track being included, and that it will be announced at E3 and at the pre-race events for Le Mans. But I’m not a gambling man, so don’t take me up on a proper bet – just yet.
OXCGN will be involved with some local (Aust/NZ) promotions for the game, whenever it is launched, which will be with a major Auto Show promoter here in the Asia Pacific region. So please stay posted for that as well.
The race was made even more famous in 1971 when actor and racing driver Steve McQueen drove the race in a rather dry but action packed movie called, Le Mans. If you want some old thrills and spills, get it out for nostalgia.
Rest assured, OXCGN will be up to its elbows in grease with Forza 3. Right in there wiyth the promotions, news and competitions – Oh, I didn’t mention the OXCGN Forza 3 Competitions – did I !? Damn.
More on that in the next update.
Oh, and make sure you check out one of the highest hit Forza 3 pages on the net – Right HERE.

hmm…are we sure that isn’t hinting the release of forza as december 6 2009?
it could be using the north american date pattern
Bob, that’s a thought, but that might not fit in with 1) Le Mans being so close to E3 this year, 2) MS have raely, if at all, released a major 1st party game in December, or post Thanksgiving – could be, but not sure, more digging required.
having a lemans track and that date would make no sense whatsoever.
Of course it would. It appears in Grid now, and is one of t he hardest, most testing tracks on the sedan race circuit with speeds of in excess of 250 mph possible along the huge long straight (with turns removed). They have The Ring already, and this makes perfect sense.
The date for the 12-6-2009 is the Pre-race announcemnt date that Le Mans uses for making any pre-race news or special announcements, as come am on the 13th, there are on with the race until the next morning/day.
If it was the 6th December as a release date, that makes no sense, as MS have NEVER released a title that late in the year, only a few weeks out of Christmas. It doesn’t fit in with the countries HUGE ThanksGiving sales at all, which usually run in the first part of November through to the middle of November (usually).
Every major 1st Party title has been released on or around the 11th of the 11th of each year. The Consoles were released at that time, including the 1st-gen and the 360, so bearing that in mind, I’d say the Le Mans announcement fits more than the possible 6th Dec release date. Grab yourself a copy of Opening The Xbox or Xbox 360 Uncloaked, READ it, and you’ll get an understanding of how MS do their release windows, and the methodology behind their choices. Well worth the read btw for ANYONE half interested in the Xbox platform, or the other two, as there’s some REALLY interesting information in those two books about Sony and Nintendo’s early days and the possible buy out of Nintendo by MS – at that time.
Whilst I agree that post November is a poor period for releases historically. I think you’ve seen that mentality very much changed by Capcom, 2K’s and even Microsoft’s success in the first quarter of this year.
I think Forza 3 is a big enough title for a franchise that has tremendous legs even years on from Forza 2′s release.
Microsoft has also said they are reassessing the release philosophy you refer to. I expect many of their ’09 games to actually drop in the first quarter of 2010 such as Alan Wake, Mass Effect 2 and a Rare title, or less mass market games from third parties such as Silicon Knights, Mistwalker or Ruffian/Realtime Worlds.
Whether Forza 3 gets to us before then I don’t know, but I certainly hope it’s no later than October, because November is going to be a massacre with big hitters Assassins Creed 2, Mordern Warfare 2, Bioshock 2, etc… And there’s a lot of quality racers coming out in the same period… NFS: SHIFT, Dirt 2 and Blur being three of the best.
