Forza 3 Game Walkthrough & Guide
©2009 Grant Smythe:
Well it’s shaping up very nicely I must say, and OXCGN is always trying to keep its Forza 3 fans up to date as much as possible, so when Gamespot had a chance to get a walkthrough with Forza 3 team member Amritz Lay, Product Manager at Microsoft Games Studios at the recent GameCOM, we thought we would go through them and pick out some details for you.
So what we’ll do here in this little info update is share with you some of the finer details of the game, then allow you to check out the video at the end. You’ll be shown the cars that will be available to you from the get-go, how the assists work, how the ‘one-button-driving’ works with the ‘Auto-brake’ feature enabled. And let’s not forget the ‘rewind’ feature, which can be used as many times as you like through a single game.
The various facets of the game are shown extremely well, and each vid is around 7 mins long, so make sure you grab a drink and some munchies, as you’ll need them.
So let’s start your engines shall we
When you kick off, the game is narrated by what Turn 10 have named “The Voice Of Forza”, Peter Eagen, a British actor contracted for the job. He will be guiding you throughout the entire game in the various career and event modes, helping you set up the various settings and choose modes. You can now change your settings at any time through your game, so you’re not stuck on, say, Casual when you find yourself doing better as you progress and wanting to shift to ‘Serious’. The three difficulty levels are:
• Casual
• Regular
• Serious.
At the very beginning of Forza 3, you are given an experience with the beautiful V10 Audi R8 to help you get familiar with the game, the controls and give you a small experience of what to expect as you move further into the game. Once this is completed, you go into the actual game, where you have a choice of 7 basic lower class vehicles from several popular manufactures such as Chevrolet and Ford to choose from and work your way up the ranks.
Huge number of events to chose from
Events, events, events – Believe it or not, you now have a total of 220 events in Forza 3, whereas you only had 90 in Forza 2. You now have a huge list of events to work through or choose from during your game.
This will obviously give the game an extremely long replay value. I know that with my 500 plus hours in Forza 2, these added events will mean I’ll be lost in this game for the next year basically.
It also has 50% more upgrades available for you to ponder over – oh joy, as if it wasn’t hard enough already, which are now displayed in excellent detail on the screen, and much more life-like than previous iterations. Plus the upgrades are more detailed and specific, if that could be possible, giving you much more control over the vehicle’s modifications and tuning.
Seasons of change
There’s also Seasons Mode, where you’ll be given a series of 3 races based on tracks and cars that you have already raced. That way Forza knows what your preferences are, and can then allocate the tracks and cars you prefer for that season.
A new feature is the “Quick Upgrade” available from the Start Menu, all of which is very clean, neat and functional. Ten times better than the frustrating Forza 2 menu system that is for sure. By choosing ‘Quick Upgrade’, the AI in Forza 3 offers you a few choices of what would suit the car you currently have, and the track that it is on, allowing for track specifics such as types of corners, speed etc.
You can simply choose the one you want, and if you have the credits, it will upgrade your car, or slot the upgrades in if you already have them, as well as tune the vehicle to its optimum for that track and car combination.
Oh delight of delights, the garage is much bigger than before, and much easier to work your way through. One of my biggest bug-bears was the terrible vehicle selection process in Forza 2. This has been eliminated completely, and you not have a series of drop down menus and selections that take you to any car in your garage/s.
Leaderboards
With the global leaderboards, we now have two classes, ‘Certified’ and ‘Uncertified’. Meaning, that they will both have their own leaderboards, allowing those who really want to tweak, tune and clip down times to really get into it through the ‘Certified’ leaderboards, without worrying about some clown coming along with all assists and auto-brake enabled, and knocking everyone off their rightful perch.
Those casual racers with certain assists on will be placed in the ‘Uncertified’ leaderboards, making sure that the two do not give advantages to those that would try and get around the system and win events unfairly. Yes, we do have them out there sadly.
Much more to come
It has certainly made me even more lustful for the game. It’s great seeing how the different assists won’t play a role in fudging the global rankings, and I think I’m going to enjoy Forza 3 much more than the previous iteration.
All those who use such things as ‘Auto-brake’ or ‘One-Finger-Driving’ and other ‘Assists’ will not be added to the global ‘Certified’ leaderboards. This means that I’ll now have more time to master tracks, knowing others aren’t winning unfairly.
There’s much more to come from OXCGN, and we hope to have some first-hand details for you next week when we are treated to a special Forza 3 event here in Sydney for media only. OXCGN will make sure we get plenty of pics and some videos to share with you all. Until then, please enjoy the following videos from GameCOM 09.

Just wanted to point out a pretty big spelling error you guys have posted on the first page for this article. Third paragraph down and third word in says “fascists” when you mean “facets” which you have correct in the actual article. Pretty big mix up
Thanks for the pick-up, I think we’re allowed a few typos in the articles mate, we do fixem when we find them, even major news papers and mags have them as well, so again, thanks for the pick-up.
