OXCGN Forza 3 September Update #6 – 250 gig Ferrari Madness
3 Major news items in one today:
- Forza 3 Super Elite 250 gig Bundle a goer
- A video featuring pro race driver RJ De Vera.
- Ferrari Madness
1) And Forza 3 Super Elite 250 Gig Bundle confirmed!
As I mentioned in a previous Forza 3 update, there was talk of a Forza 3 Super Elite 250 Gig Bundle that appeared on Amazon and a South African retail website. It has been confirmed for South Africa so far, no doubt more to come very soon, expect an announcement within the next 24 hours.
Here in Australia however, we have yet to have any confirmation of that, as according to my little birdie friends, who often send me nice little tit-bits via carrier pigeon, we have yet to have any announcement within the channels here or artwork being commissioned that would show we would be getting that bundle.
Considering one of my little birdies works on the actual boxing and in-store goods etc, I’d have to trust their word on the matter, especially considering if boxes are needed for Australian/New Zealand stores, which they would be, and they do the artwork, then they’d know. But nothing – YET! – Soon as I find out, I’ll certainly let everyone know.
But it will be coming to South Africa, (as indicated by Xbox360 Gamer - Racing to stores on the 23rd October, the Forza Motorsport 3 Super Elite Bundle features more storage space than ever before coming complete with a 250GB Hard Drive, two Xbox 360 Wireless Controllers, as well as an Xbox 360 Headset and a Standard Edition copy of Forza Motorsport 3 for an estimated retail price of R4999) and if that is the case, which it is, then rest assured it will flow across the rest of the regions and be officially announced within the next 24 hours for worldwide release alongside the normal Forza 3 game and similar bundles
Many were flabbergasted when Infinity Ward and Microsoft teamed up to deliver the Modern Warfare Super Elite 250 Gig Bundle just the other day, soon as I heard that, it was only a matter of time before news would leak out about confirmation of the Forza 3 Super Elite 250 gig Elite bundle being available World Wide.
It just stands to reason that it would be released.
People complain that both Microsoft, Infinity Ward and now Turn 10 are simply sqeezing more $$’s out of the punters. Wrong. The bundles are not an ongoing SKU, nor are they aimed at replacing any of the current SKU’s in stores across the globe.
If any of you had been around during the 1st-Gen Xbox’s days, you’ll know that there were numerious Collectors Editions and various specific Game Bundles that included either specially painted cases or different coloured cases such as the Halo Elite Force Pack or PGR High Performance Pack containing speicial 1st-Gen Xbox’s.
I actually have 5 of the buggers and have had more over the years, but sold a few and made all my money back to I might add, and then some. When they were released, they sold out fast, so why not do special Xbox 360 units for those of us who want them, it’s an excellent marketing tool, and it helps move more units.
So to those who are saying it is simply a scam by the powers to be to extract more money from the punters, you’re wrong. What it is doing is offering you the gamer more choice in what you can have.
It gives ‘you’ choice
Would you like to come into gaming in a flying way and grab say Modern Warfare 2 and or Forza 3 as a Special Bundle and get a HUGE 250 gig HDD and something that only several hundred thousand ppl will do.
If you simply want to get into it in a light way, you can, and still get a roaring machine with the 60 and 120 gig units that have now superseeded the Pro Units.
Gamers these day complain if they don’t have choice, yet when given it, they complain even louder that they are being forced to buy dearer goods. No you are not, you have simply been given a choice, always remember that.
2) A video featuring pro race driver RJ De Vera.
Sit back and enjoy veteran driver RJ De Vera’s account of his experience with Forza 3 and his role in the game. Great video, you’ll learn a great deal from watching it, please feel free to share it around, grab the embedded code for your site or facebook etc.
• RJ De Vera at his best
3) Ferrari Madness
100 New Ferrari Madness images.
Once you check out these beauties below, you’ll see the amount of detail that has gone into the HD world of Forza 3 when recreating the various cars in Forza 3.
Make sure you check out the cockpits and interiors of these cars, as you’ll be astounded at the detail evedent in each image.
Like I’ve said many times before, until you actually see this game in the flesh, and have your hands on it and driven around the tracks a few time, you really will not appreciate what the game is like now.
Forget Forza 2.
Anyone that says Forza 3 is simply a nicer looking Forza 2 using a ‘tweaked Forza 2 engine’, obviously has not seen the game, nor read or listened to anything the developers have put out over the last several months. If they had, then those readers would know that there’s nothing from Forza 2 inside Forza 3.
The entire engines, both physics, graphics, mechanics, etc have all been created a-new from scratch. They released Forza 2 not long into the console’s lifespan. Now they have had time to tweak, play and learn more about the various indioscinracies of the 360, and have tailoured the game to suit that. Plus capitalise on the powers that were not as evident earlier on when Forza 2 was being developed.
Remembering, that Forza 2 was in development before the 360 hit the stands, so the console, and the game at that time were an unknown entity. Yet they still produced what has often been hearalded as one of the best console racers of this generation.
Who’s to say what we will get when Forza 4 hits in about 2.5 yrs from now. But right now, looking at these images, and the other great shots and videos here in OXCGN, one would be hard pressed to call the game a casual racer, let alone that it is lacking in detail and technical abilities.
Forza Community
One of the huge standpoints for Forza is its community. It has the largest online community that still flourishes on an ongoing basis. Forza 2 had over 2 million players on a constant basis while the game ran its course. It still has a huge following as gamers get their skill honed before Forza 3 arrives October 23rd (27th Nth America).
The sheer size of the game, the customisation, the user created content such as paintwork, tuning specs, which can be traded through Forzamotorsport.net. There will be leaderboards for all these as well as races, the game simply explodes any other similar game on the market today, and most likely in the near future.
OXCGN will have some great stuff to discuss soon about how it will be supporting Forza 3 and the community. So if you think that you’re even half decent in driving, painting and or tuning, then please send us an email explaining your skills, and we’ll discuss what we have planned with you.
Naturally, there will be NDA’s for those who do take part in the team work, to maintain our own ideas of course, but it would be a blast to be part of one of the biggest Xbox sites Racing team with a full creww covering everything from drivers, painters, tuners, and public relations and PR people.
We like to think outside “the Box” here at OXCGN, we hope you do to?
But for now, settle back and enjoy the madness that is – Ferrari
