WANTED:- Certified Forza 3 Evangelist

WANTED: Certified Forza 3 Evangelist

Yes, the OZ is looking for some help!

Personally, the Forza 3 pages are my baby here at OXCGN, always have been, always will be. However, one man can only do so much and be able to still deliver the goods to the hungry and eager Forza 3 fans out there.

So to honour that code, I’m needing someone who has the following skills. A word of warning in advance. Please do not respond if you simply want some online glory or your name in print, yet do not have the skill set required! You’ll be not only wasting your time, but most importantly, mine as well. Which is something I do not take to kindly these days. I already put 10 – 14 hours per day into OXCGN, I really do not have any more hours in one day to add any more by following false leads and people who can not deliver what they say they can.

You may also put someone else out of a position that does have the skill set required. Those that do apply will be given 2 tasks to see how they go, so that you know that you will be accepted based on your skills, not because of anything else. No, I do not take bribes (jk btw).

Some facts to consider.

Did you know that OXCGN readers spend 3 – 4 times longer on our pages than they do in sites like IGN, GameSpot and other major sites. They have an average time per page of 2-4 mins. OXCGN has an average of 8 – 10 mins per page per visitor.

OXCGN is now ranked above any other ‘non-corporate-commercial’ single platform site in the Asian Pacific Region and currently sits at 123k on Alexa (global website ranking system for ALL websites), and has a Google Page Rank of 4/10. Major sites have a Google Page Rank of 5/10. We have on average 2-4k people view our site daily. So these will be the people you will be writing and doing work for . . not for your own glory or gratification. A site is only measured by what it ‘delivers’ for the audience . . not what the owner wants to deliver for him or her self.

I’ll need someone who has or shows:

  • Excellent research abilities
  • Good literacy and writing skills
  • Able to ferret out things as track details
  • Video experience in helping compile race videos
  • News Hound help in finding news
  • Photoshop skills
  • WordPress.COM skills – not vital, but helpful
  • Plenty of time to donate to the task – you will be a volunteer.
  • Great team spirit and able to take direction
  • An unbiased ‘Gamer’ – not a ‘Fanboy’

If you don’t mind volunteering, and meet these skills, then send me an email now.

Yes,that is right, everyone involved on OXCGN does so from a volunteer basis. You may? get access to some XboxLive code for Arcade games from time to time, or a Xbox 360 game to review which means you keep said game, but this will be based on your abilities and by showing that you are what you say you are, and being able to deliver on time and in the manner required.

You will be helping me personally in completing one of the nets biggest and most complete Forza 3 track detail listing ever made. It will be used for years as a reference tool, and your work will help make it the landing page for all Forza 3 racers across the globe. Ideally Forza 3 and Turn 10 will have it up on their site for their community to use.

You will become part of a very large Forza 3 community, one the will be the leading Forza 3 online tournament groups on the net.

This is why I do not want anyone who simply does not have the time, energy, ability and most of all, enthusiasm. You must exhibit all of these and show that you do want to make a difference. Those with previous experience will be welcomed, as will those who can show that they have the skills and abilities to meet their word.

I have a saying or motto as it were, and it goes something like this.

“A persons integrity is measured by those who see him ‘being a person of his word’. If he says he will do something, then he must be that word and live up to that level of integrity”. I make every attempt to honour that code every day. If you can, then we could create a great working relationship.

  1. I would like the job. Send me an email for my previous work!

  2. I read many of your blog posts. Good Job and very informative.

    Keep it up!

    Regards
    Tom

  3. Is this a paying role?

  4. You know. You should really learn to REFERENCE your work.

    Otherwise it means jack shit.

    My Facebook page is ranked above any other of my friends, which means i need someone to write quality status updates and tag my photos for me. Don’t bother applying unless you can use a mouse. You wont only be wasting your time, more importantly, you’ll be wasting mine.

    • And your point being . . If you read, it states we are the highest ranked single Un-corporation run ‘site’ for the xbox platform in Australia, and ranked 123k on “Alexa”, which ranks websites, not facebook ‘pages’. During E3 this year, we were ranked at 64k, well under the magic 100k mark . . . then settled at 104k, and we have stablised at the 123k mark now after that spike.

      We’re not saying we are better than everyone else, simply that the team, as a team, put out some great info that has readers come back. We (read I) simply need someone to assist me specifically with the forza 3 section, hence the request for someone with Forza 3 knowledge and willingness to ‘help’ on a volunteer basis.

      You do know that it IS okay to say good things about yourself . . it’s called pride. Pride in what you do, what your friends do (the team) and what we have achieved as a ‘volunteer’ group. If you want to check our stats, simply look up the site on Alexa (which we did mention btw) It only requires a person to go there, type in a url, and then check it out, so it’s there for anyone and everyone to see, and even compare it to any other site . . .

      Other than that, we have no need to reference anything else, as we’re not claiming anything other than Alexa stats. Oh, and Google Page Rank, and that’s easy for anyone to check up really.

      • I did go and check alexa.com for your ranking. And it seems you dont even exist in their database.

        http://www.alexa.com/search?q=oxcgn
        http://www.alexa.com/search?q=oxcgn.com
        http://www.alexa.com/search?q=www.oxcgn.com

        ^^ Only one of these links yields a result, the top one, and it isnt for your site. Its for “Gameslibrary” or something similar.

        So, xboxoz360, unless the search was not as simple as you explained, where is your proof of 123k on alexa.com?

        Theres a difference between being proud of something legitimate, and being proud of unsubstantiated facts. How would you team feel about these “stats” if it were uncovered you were being untruthful, or, at best being unrealistic?

      • Need I say more mate http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/http%3A%2F%2Foxcgn.com

        Not trying to be a pain or anything either, but all our members can find it easy enough mate, and I simply went there to alexa.com, typed in the url you wish to check up, and then the data was shown above, that is the exact url I get, hope that helps. I Still stand by my previous statement btw. Without the team, the site would not be where it is today.

        We aren’t in their results that you are looking at because no one has done an outside review of the iste yet, when thathappens, the site then goes onto their search fields. But by checking for a sites info, you will find everything that you need to know, right down to how many ppl from each country visted the site over the last 24 hours, and where it ranks in each region.

        Eg:
        * 2,101 Trinidad and Tobago Flag Trinidad and Tobago
        * 2,605 Australia Flag Australia
        * 51,725 United Kingdom Flag United Kingdom
        * 59,676 Portugal Flag Portugal
        * 99,711 Russia Flag Russia
        * 100,109 Canada Flag Canada
        * 103,168 Spain Flag Spain
        * 108,655 Philippines Flag Philippines
        * 171,044 United States Flag United States
        * 187,625 Italy Flag Italy

        You can also grab their Firefox tool bar widget if you like (alexa’s), which when loaded, will give you a small window at either the top or bottom of your browser that will show the site you are on ranking within Alexa, it’s graph and growth chart, plus it supplies the Goggle Page Rank placement of the particular site.

        I would never state these facts unless I had them, that would be just plain stupid and highly unethical.

        Plus it would show a great deal of lack of integrity, something the team would tell you I do take very seriously. The publishers we deal with find it easy enough on Alexa, and THQ recently commented tome at a function we were invited to and attended, that he was pleased to see us moving back up the Alexa ranking. Showing he’s been watching, not only now, but in the past.

        I suppose i can’t say anymore than that really, as even the publishers we do deal with are happy of our growth, and just like them, you’ll also find our entire history on there dating from when we join a few years ago. You can do a monthly, 3 monthly or longer data check to see our stats.

        All our team have the Alexa widget on their browsers that use FF, and also visit the Alexa site from day to day, and often let me know where we are placed, not the other way around.

        You could try doing a simple google for the site, that will give you all the sites thathave a connection with it in some way, I think there’s currently 24 pages of links to other sites, some of those are info sites like Digg, Yahoo etc. Hope that helps It’s how I find out about other sites as well.

      • @super

        http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/oxcgn.com

        traffic rank is what is important, not what is listed in alexa’s personal search….google already handles the search aspect… no one really uses alexa since it takes very long to update their database. alexa’s forte is traffic rankings

      • Thanks mate, not having a go at Super – but we live in a strange world now.

        It seems it’s not okay to be proud or evangelistic about ones work, achievements, or efforts. Doing so is now seen as bragging, or worse. While it would be if you were simply going around telling everyone how wonderful you are, expressing your information to others si simply keeping them informed. God, GameSpot, IGN, Magazines do it all the time, often without even a reference to any publication, site or comment. Yet a smaller indie site or individual does it, and it’s seen as something akin to – well – I just don’t know. It’s almost as if now-days, one is not supposed to do such things.

        I’ve seen it in schools and other social aspects over the last 56-10 especially. Having many younger ppl hold back and not come out and be proud about what they do or achieve. I love it when a team member, or even a site reader sends me info on what they have achieved, or how well they are doing, it shows they care.
