Microsoft has taken a leaf out of Valve’s Steam with Major Nelson announcing Xbox Live‘s first ever “Inventory Blowout Sale”. Ten Xbox Live Arcade titles at 50% off (give or take) for a week!

But beware: As any hardened Steamer will tell you, you’re likely to buy a lot more than you’ll ever play. So for the more economically sensitive gamers amongst us, OXCGN has bought them all so you don’t have to! From 10/10 to 1/10, here is our rundown of what we hope is the first of many Inventory Blowout Sales to come.

10/10 -Defense Grid – The Awakening

Bigger, better and cheaper than the PC version this is the best premium tower defense game without Plants vs Zombies in it.

Metacritc: 81

Microsoft Points: 400 (50% off!)

Real Money: US$5.00/A$6.60

`

9/10 Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix

A classic for the street fighter purists still as good as you remember it, with robust online multiplayer to boot.

Metacritic: 88

Microsoft Points: 560 (53% off!)

Real Money: US$7.00/A$9.24

8/10 - Rocket Riot

Simple arcade shooting has you blasting your buddies across beautiful pixel art maps, with a dangling carrot of collectibles ensuring you’re always going to have “just one more go”.

Metacritic: 80

Microsoft Points: 400 (50% off!)

Real Money: US$5.00/A$6.60

7/10 - Age of Booty

It’s got that laid back vibe of Kingdom of Keflings, but with hex based strategy providing a more challenging campaign and surprisingly deep and competitive multiplayer.

Metacritic: 76

Microsoft Points: 400 (50% off!)

Real Money: US$5.00/A$6.60

6/10 - Lumines Live

There’s been plenty of puzzlers since but this can still captivate and entrance you for hours, just beware the poison pill of micro transactions lurking behind the game’s addictiveness.

Metacritic: 77

Microsoft Points: 400 (50% off!)

Real Money: US$5.00/A$6.60

5/10 - Wallace & Gromit

Signature quality over quantity that draws you into a witty and puzzling mini-adventure until you realise the rest of the series isn’t on sale.

Metacritic: 73

Microsoft Points: 400 (50% off!)

Real Money: US$5.00/A$6.60

4/10 - South Park Tower Defence

A simple man’s tower defense, albeit with a twist, becomes an insta-buy for any South Park fan who’s after some genuinely pleasing fan service.

Metacritic: 72

Microsoft Points: 400 (50% off!)

Real Money: US$5.00/A$6.60

3/10 - Schizoid

The co-op’s good, the single player is repetitive, uberschizoid is maddening… but most importantly Geometry Wars 2 is the same price on April 5th.

Metacritic: 68

Microsoft Points: 400 (50% off!)

Real Money: US$5.00/A$6.60

2/10 - Track & Field

It won’t last you long but for the button mashing enthusiast in all of us get four mates over for beers and spend an hour to see whose controller (fingers?) will break first.

Metacritic: 63

Microsoft Points: 240 (40% off!)

Real Money: US$3.00/A$3.96

1/10 - Mad Tracks

A cynical, poor man’s Micro Machines that’s importance lies in reminding us how far XBLA and online gaming has come, and how we never want to return to this!

Metacritic: 62

Microsoft Points: 400 (50% off!)

Real Money: US$5.00/A$6.60

Let us know which way the pennies (points) drop for you in the comments below.

The inaugural “Inventory Blowout Sale” runs from April 1 to April 7. For more details please go to Major Nelson.
