Place your pre-orders in early- the Legendary won't last - even at 5kgs

Update: • Our ‘huge’ multi-faceted Halo Reach Review.

Update: • Halo Reach Release Article Bungie’s Last Big Stand.

Updated: New Halo Reach and Halo Collectable article just published, feel free to pass it around, covers all Halo consoles and CE-LE’s since the game was released on the 1st-gen Xbox.

News just to hand shows that the new Legendary Halo Reach Limited Edition Noble One Team Statue will drop on your desks at a cool 5kgs, not including the huge tin box, the huge Diary, Cloth Badge, Security card Artefact bag and other gear.

There are two items available outside the standard edition of course.

The Halo Reach Limited Edition and the Halo Reach Legendary Edition (see left image). You’ll see what each contains below.

This method worked well with previous Halo editions, with many clambering for the ultimate one, the Legendary Halo 3 edition, of which I of course have.

Microsoft have been leading the way with Limited Editions, ever since they started making the 1st-Gen Consoles into LE’s prior to the cease of production. They sold thousands upon thousands of the units, even to existing customers who simply wanted something different. So they have now started moving that idea across into the 360 camp.

The Limited Edition will also be pre-order only, with some no doubt getting both

While there’s been a limited number of real Xbox 360 Limited Edition consoles for retail sale, such as the Halo 3, the Resident Evil 5 and Modern Warfare 2 units, most of the latter two selling off the shelves before they actually landed in stores. You may find a few of them around still, but not many, if any at all.

Some Limited Edition game versions have been equally successful with great figurines and even night vision goggles.

This again shows that collectables are valuable to those who really want part of gaming history in some way.

If you check out the detail in these Halo Reach items, which you’ll see individually below, especially the Diary, you’ll see why the asking price of this is higher than what a normal cased item is.

But that being the case, these two will sell much lower than their actual cost will be. These are pure marketing tools to win over fence sitters, and also sell to fanatical fans across the globe.

Bid on this now if you really want it

Collectables are not a new thing, but those new to gaming may well think so. I only hope that Microsoft see the high viability of selling limited run (truly limited editions) of goods, especially actually consoles like the Modern Warfare 2 and Resident Evil 5 units.

Some of the work that goes into 3rd party Xbox 360 case mods is extraordinary, as seen here in the recent Microsoft Limited Exclusive 360 Auction, especially the Halo one which ends this week, so get your bids in NOW for that one.

Here are some of the close-ups of both the Legendary and Limited Edition Halo Reach editions which could be yours.

OXCGN is seeing if we can run a special Halo Reach Competition, so that perhaps one of our lucky readers can walk away with one of these big beauties for free . . . so make sure you RSS or bookmark us and stay tuned on this if you like what you see.

  1. ………………deleted………….and the poster knows why!

i preordered this halo reach lengendary edition at gamestop and i hope it does come out on sept. 1st like everyone says

  2. now this is how you do a limited edition, sony really need to sit and take notes!
i bought the ultimate trilogy edition for GOW3 when it released and oh boy was that a waste of money!
250 bucks for a flimsy box, art book and 3 soundtracks plus the 3 games.
biggest waste of 250 bucks ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
though the alan wake limited edition looks better, its really cool how the case is shaped like a book.

    • The Limited Alan Wake one looks great in real like and will certainly have fans happy come release day. SO will this big bit of kit here.

      • i wish sony would do the same most of their limited editions are a crappy cardboard sleeve and some DLC.
wonder if crackdown 2 is going to get a LE, cant wait for that the stuff they showed at pax was really amazing.
loved the first one, just hope the missions are a little more structured this time, crackdown felt rushed and really needed a straight jacket to focus it.
