Assassin’s Creed Universe Expands With Ascendance: Updated!

New Animated Story Introduced and detailed

UPDATE 12/11/2010: Ubi-Workshop has just revealed new details and a longer teaser about the animated story Assassin’s Creed Ascendance.  Its site reveals that the assassin is in fact Ezio :

Bridging the narrative gap between Assassin’s Creed 2 and Assassin’s Creed brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed Ascendance follows Assassin Ezio Auditore as he struggles to remove the treacherous Borgia family from their papal throne.

Ezio will learn the brutal truth behind Ceasare Borgia’s rise to power. Fratricide, betrayal, torture… Cesare employs any tactic to achieve his ambition – ultimate control of Italy. Ezio has found his nemesis.

Assassin’s Creed Ascendance will be available on PlayStation®Store, Xbox LIVE® for the Xbox 360®, and other digital channels.

With Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood soon to be released, Ubisoft’s Ubi-Workshop has revealed a brief glance of its upcoming project: Assassin’s Creed: Ascendance (released November 16th).

No, it isn’t the next game, but rather an animated story.

The brief teaser clip here poses more questions than it answers about the former “Secret Project”.  The assassin figure does look a lot like Altair. (Ed.: oops got that one wrong!)

The city looks very medieval, but at least some of the rooftops appear to be tiled and graded, rather than the flat rooftops of the Holy Land; though he could be running on a church or cathedral.

In any case it is another welcome addition to the ever-expanding Assassin’s Creed universe.

We have the novels (discussed HERE), the short Lineage film (seen HERE), and the graphic novel, Assassin’s Creed: The Fall (just released today) adding to the popular games, which have been on the PC, 360, PS3, DS, PSP, iPhone and Facebook.
