It’s been a relatively above-average day in the gaming industry. Borderlands 2 was announced, Battlefield 3 was confirmed to be a true PC game, and Kevin Butler accidentally tweeted the PS3 root key.
To end the night, we have one final piece of news, straight from gaming’s beloved monopolist, Bobby Kotick.
He announced that a new internal, CoD-only studio has been formed under the name of Beachhead. And that’s all we know.
The only concrete info regarding this topic is that they will be “focused solely on the development of an innovative new platform and services for Call of Duty,” with a focus on the “online gaming experience.”
Conspiracy Theory
What do you think?
Will it be a studio churning out even MORE of our favorite annual piece of generic shooter trash?
Or could it possibly be the Call of Duty MMO that was rumored?
A fresh developer could possibly (and I stress the term ‘possibly’) make a new, worthwhile entry into the series.
Either way, I still won’t buy it! But the question is… will you at least give it a chance?
What’s NOT coming from Activision!
Gone, seems True Crime wasn’t going to turn a profit and the guys at United Front Games have been given the flick, and the game music industry is coping a loss of two of it’s best selling games across the board – why?
“We are sorry we did not get a chance to complete this project [True Crime: Hong Kong] with Activision, but we understand why.
We are both committed to doing quality games and nothing less. Maybe we will have a chance to work together in the future, but in the meantime we are setting our creative sights on a different horizon.”

Seems Activison wish to focus on Digital distribution and “Interactive” gaming ie; Multiplayer gaming.
Seems days of Single Player gaming is on the slid from one of the major players in gaming, certainly hope not.
