Gears of War 3 is one of this Fall’s most anticipated titles, arriving at just the right time (September 20) in order to help [western hemisphere] students fail school at the beginning of the first semester, versus the typical holiday time frame.

Relayed from CVG, Epic executive producer Rod Fergusson said that Gears 3 is going to “answer all of the questions, bring the story to a closure and go out with a huge bang.”

Before you mourn the end of a great series, hold your horses, as Rod wasn’t done talking.
• Rod Fergusson, executive producer, Gears series -

“We’re not blowing up the world so Sera and the Gears universe will live on, but for us we didn’t want to betray our customers and community by having a cliff-hanger ending where you’re like ‘argh I just got duped, now I’ve gotta wait until the next game’,” Fergusson said to CVG.

We wanted to have closure, we wanted people to have some satisfaction that they were along for this ride and they lived through a story.

We’re not going to reveal everything because we want some mystique left in our universe, but this is the Marcus Fenix story and people should feel satisfied after playing through that.”

Fergusson also made the obligatory comment saying how the title will be the best ever.

“We’re bringing the biggest campaign with ever made, we’re bringing Horde, we’re bringing Beast, we’re bringing a really deep multiplayer with rewards and unlocks and thousands of hours of gameplay.

“To me this is the best Gears that Epic has ever made. It’s a no-brainer – it’s the game you have to get.”

Brothers To The End

As of the time of writing, Gears of War 3 is 168 days away.

What are you doing to prepare yourselves for the final iteration in the main aspect of this wonderful series?

I own all three novels by Karen Traviss: Aspho Fields, Jacinto’s Remnant and Anvil Gate.

They’re fantastically written and give you an entirely new perspective on the universe.

Gears of War has a fascinatingly rich, extraordinarily deep universe and backstory rivaling that of juggernauts such as Halo.

If you’re even a mild reader, I strongly suggest the books (at least Jacinto’s Remnant, as it wraps up what happens right at the end of Gears of War 2).
