Another E3 has come and gone, and we are all left with tremendous anticipation for the games heading our way this holiday season, and many more to come in the following 12 months that often slip through the cracks with such a huge event.

For some of you, you may be experiencing withdrawals at this point.

Or, you may have missed parts (of the whole) of the show entirely, needing that post-event fix to keep you in the loop.

But fear not fellow gamers, for OXCGN is bringing you our top trailers from E3 2011 [in no particular order of course]. We’ll look at some of the major AAA titles, as well as some of the ones that slipped through the door-cracks.

Some games that are always in the lime-light get all the attention of course, but there are also some great games that always seem to show up later on in the year, and many gamers often wonder where they came from.

We recommend that you sit back, relax, grab yourself some refreshments, and prepare for pulse-pounding action. We’ll supply some basic information on the games as well for you to digest.

Let the madness begin!

#1: Assassin’s Creed: Revelations

(PC, X360, PS3 – November 15, 2011)

This has to be my absolute most favorite trailer of E3 2011, and one of my favorite of all time. Ezio Auditore is no longer a novice, but a seasoned assassin and leader of the Assassin Order.

He embarks upon a pilgrimage to the home of his ancestors, Masyaf, to find it overrun by Templars.

Revelations will “conclude the Ezio trilogy” and finally allow us to move on to Assassin’s Creed 3… or at least we’re hoping.

The trailer features Ezio returning to Masyaf, and encountering Templar resistance. It sounds average, but watch it; it just may take your breath away in that signature Assassin way.

#2: Uncharted 3

(PS3 – November 1, 2011)

Nathan Drake is back for one final journey, Uncharted 3, and it looks to be his absolute best. The trailer revolves around a ring Drake owns, a direct possession of 16th century Vice Admiral Sir Francis Drake. Drake was an English sea captain, privateer, navigator, slaver, and politician of the Elizabethan era.

And as with any good story, someone wants it, and will obtain it by any means necessary.

The dialogue hints at a much deeper, hidden motive by our seasoned-yet-youthful Nathan Drake, and it will job your imagination.

November 1st can’t come any sooner.

#3: Mass Effect 3

(PC, X360, PS3 – March 6, 2012)

Commander Shepard has been preaching the Reapers’ return for nearly three years now, and people still call him crazy.

In any other circumstance, Shepard would stick around to say “I told you so”, but not this time; there’s a Reaper invasion to stop.

In the manner that only a kickass E3 trailer can provide, Shepard locks, loads, and faces the Reaper threat head on.

Mass Effect 3 is looking to be the epitome of video game cinematicism (there’s a word I just made up), and will kick off 2012 with a bang.

#4: Hitman: Absolution

(PC, X360, PS3 – 2011)

You really have to respect Eidos for making Hitman: Absolution a continuation of the main franchise, and not just rebooting it after several years as per the trend these days (because we were all expecting ‘Hitman’).

Agent 47 is back, but fans are crying foul due to cover-based combat being a primary function of the game, time-breaking foreshadowing abilities coming into play, and the series’ signature stealth appearing to be sacrificed.

For now, all we can do is enjoy the breathtaking trailer and dream of a glorious modern Hitman title.

#5: Resistance 3

(PS3 – September 6, 2011)

When Resistance 2 ended the way it did, many fans cried out. Who will be our next hero? What will happen to Hale? Will Capelli suffer or be a hero?

Irony struck right, as Capelli is the main character of Resistance 3… and from the trailer, he’s a convicted person who stands by what he did.

And he’s prepared to murder any ugly Chimeran creature that looks at him wrong in humanity’s final hours.

Resistance 3 launches this September, and I couldn’t be giddier.

#6: Tomb Raider

(PC, X360, PS3 – 2012)

While I’ve never been a Tomb Raider fan, Lara Croft’s newest outing peaks my interest.

Gone are the days of happy-go-lucky exploring and jumping.

Now, we’re stranded on an island and are fighting for survival.

This is a major departure from any of the previous games in the franchise, and one that looks set to change the style and mood of the game completely.

If it will be accepted by the rank-n-file Tomb Raider fans is another thing, time will tell. Looks great to me

2012 will undoubtedly be looking for this title.

#7: BioShock Infinite

(PC, X360, PS3 – 2012)

The original BioShock was a masterpiece in every regard. The visuals were beautiful. The sound pierced your soul. The story grabbed your mind and heart. The gameplay remained addictive.

BioShock 2, on the other hand, was not a bad game… it just wasn’t made by Ken Levine, and suffered the John Adams effect; John Adams wasn’t a bad President, it’s just that he came after George Washington.

BioShock Infinite looks to reinvent the series in an air city called Colombia, via an open world-esque manner. This is definitely one of my most anticipated titles of next year, and one of my favorite trailers of this E3!

#8: HALO 4

(X360 – Winter 2012)

John-177 is fast asleep in cryostorage, and Cortana starts calling for him.

Slowly, he comes to and finds themselves hurtling towards a wild, humongous Forerunner structure.

Anyone else notice how it wasn’t the same thing we saw in the Legendary ending of Halo 3?

While I am excited, it really asks the question: do we NEED another trilogy?

#9: Saints Row: The Third

(PC, X360, PS3 – November 15, 2011)

Move over, GTA V, because Saints Row is here to one up you again.

Saints Row: The Third, what could be the final SR title, is here to completely make fun of and destroy everything that is remotely serious.

I think I’m one of the few people who actually enjoys the crazy story Volition has concocted, and we’ll see how it all culminates on November 15, 2011… the same day as Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Halo Anniversary.

#10: Metro: Last Light

(PC, X360, PS3 – 2012)

Metro 2033 was one of the most atmospheric experiences in gaming.

It told the story of Artyom, a man who was born and raised in the metro tunnels beneath a Moscow in nuclear winter.

Originally known as Metro 2034, Metro: Last Light is the spiritual successor to Metro 2033.

Details are scarce, but we’ll be seeing this badboy in 2012.

#11: Ace Combat: Assault Horizon

(X360, PS3 – October 11. 2011)

Ace Combat has had a strange presence this generation of consoles.

Personally, I’ve never been much of a fan, but the games have always appeared to be authentic and intense.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon promises to further that, and keep the series true to its name.

You can find yourself on the assault horizon this October.

#12: NeverDead

(X360, PS3 – 2012)

NeverDead has to be one of the most exciting, unique, and all-around interesting game concepts I’ve ever seen. NeverDead begins with the world under threat from a demonic plague. Centuries have passed since the world succumbed to an unforeseen shadow of evil, and a hero was made an immortal by demons. These demons have risen once again in the present day and are wreaked unrelenting mayhem, represented by destructible environments within the game

The title obviously is very self explanatory of the game’s motive; you never die.

Donning a character named Bryce, the game revolves around our character being immortal.

Bryce can lose limbs and be reduced to absolute nothingness, and has to quite literally pull himself together for the tougher days to come.

Unfortunately, we won’t see much of NeverDead until next year at the earliest. Let’s hope it will remain immortal like Bryce… until then, enjoy this extraordinarily awesome trailer.

E3 ends, life resumes…

Another E3 has come and gone.

Some will go into withdrawals.

Some will scour the internet for information on games they saw at the show.

Others will reflect upon the show as they continue to immerse themselves in the most up-to-date games available.

Until next year, my friends… E3 2011 is put to rest.
