The best part of E3 is announcing and showing games and consoles to an enthusiastic and eager gaming audience.

New games. Reboots. Sequels. Expansions. DLC.

Unfortunately, not every gamer gets to see the game they hoped to.  Each year we get excited that certain games may appear at the show but then they never do (and in some cases, never appear ever!).

These are the titles that were unfortunately missing in action from E3 2011.

An unfortunate turn of events…

Star Wars Battlefront III

Maybe one day...

If you’ve been following my works for the past few months, you’ll notice that I mention Battlefront III a lot.

I did a research article on the current status of the game, and I included it in our Top Ten Announcements We Want at E3 2011 article.

Another E3 has come and gone, and Battlefront III still has not seen the light of day.

It’s a shame, because it would probably be better than almost any other game out there.

Destiny (New Bungie Title)

About a month prior to E3, a fired contractor detailed Bungie’s next title, named Destiny.

Apparently, it’s an FPS MMO, quite possibly like that of Huxley.

Unfortunately, Destiny was not at E3, and its destiny may not to be to see the light of day for many moons to come.

Half-Life 3/Half-Life 2: Episode Three

This mysterious title’s absence is no big deal; Valve stated they would not be at E3 this year.

Rumor has it they’ll be as GamesCom this year in Germany…

I want to believe.

We just want some concrete information, Valve…

Splinter Cell 6

Not too long before E3, we reported that an image confirming Splinter Cell 6′s development was leaked (although we’ve known for a year it’s been in development).

It showcased Sam with his classic goggles in typical gear, which confused everyone!

We were told Sam’s story was over… but if we’re going back to the days of, say, Chaos Theory, then we’re completely okay with that.

Unfortunately, the terribly boring Ubisoft conference yielded no return of Sam.

There’s always next year…

Next Rainbow Six

If there’s one thing we need less of in this industry, it’s brown and bloom shooters with a crappy tacked on multiplayer.

Rainbow Six is a tactical shooter series that has always captured the biggest part of my gaming soul, and unfortunately it was not available at this E3.

Luckily, as of today, the infamous Kotaku has apparently gotten two leaked screenshots and information on the current state of the next title.

A new morality system is apparently the next innovation for the series, and features a VATS-esque targeting system for taking down specific targets. Failure allows you to see the death from multiple angles, and thing of that nature.

While this is something RB6 fans will heavily debate, Ubi isn’t exactly liking this idea so far. They’ve has continued to disappoint in terms of hardcore titles… only time will tell.

GTA V

Grand Theft Auto IV was one of my favorite titles this generation, and definitely one of the best examples of post-launch support for a title.

Rumors have been abounding regarding the next title, and a 2012 release.

As usual, Rockstar was extremely low key at E3, possibly not even there.

GTA V is lurking in the shadows, and we must be patient.

The Last Guardian

ICO and Shadow of the Colossus are titles that warm my heart and inspire my imagination.

The Last Guardian is the next title in this ‘series’ from Team ICO, and disappointingly, E3 2011 yielded absolutely nothing new on this title.

No doubt, this title will sell a trillion copies on day one; why was it absent?

Kojima’s Next Title

Make no mistake, this infamous title was technically “there” but it really wasn’t.

It had a small segment in the pre-recorded Konami conference, but that’s about it.

We know absolutely nothing, and it seems as if Kojima was disappointed that he couldn’t show it.

GamesCom may yield more information, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.  Meanwhile MGS: Raiden is not really making much noise either lately.

Respawn Title

The eyes of the entire industry are on Respawn, as they make their first move.

Not long ago, it was confirmed that the title will be a sci-fi shooter like they always wanted to do.

The trail goes cold there.

What do you think? Will it try to take on Halo, or will these creative geniuses create a new phenomenon?

Doom 4

Sadly, id Software is another one of those low-key developers that doesn’t show much at events.

This E3, it was all about RAGE.

E3 2011 has come and gone.

The franchise that spawned the modern FPS industry was absent yet again.

I cried a little on the inside.

Next year!

OXCGN didn’t attend E3 this year, but we’ll be there next year.

Hopefully we’ll see the titles listed above.

We’ll assume that they were absent for good reasons.

Like, making them not suck.
