A few weeks ago, an extremely unexpected and radically depressing statement flew across the internet like wildfire: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. developer GSC Game World announced that they were closing, and that the official second game in the series would be cancelled.
After teasing us for weeks on end, those crazy guys and gals over at GSC have given us an early Christmas present.
They’re still alive (although not necessarily kicking), and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 will see the light of day.
Surprise!
The news has been broken via an official Tweet, confirming that the anticipated title is still on track for an eventual release.
“The Stalker team continues work on the project and hopefully everything will turn out well. Good Hunting Stalkers!”
While not the most glamorous of returns or releases, it reinvigorates the love that thousands upon thousands of gamers have for The Zone.
Get out of here, STALKER
If you have never experienced the joy that is stalking – and we of course mean the act of playing any of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games – the Steam Christmas sale is in full swing, with a Shadow of Chernobyl deal occurring a few days ago.
The entire franchise throughout the duration of the sale is 50% off, and on the final day of the event, Chernobyl will undoubtedly return for 75% off.
What are you waiting for? The Zone beckons, S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
