I was lucky enough to have the chance to check out both games (you can check out my Neverwinter preview here).
If you’re a fan of the Monster Hunter franchise then this game is right up your alley.
Also be sure to enter our HUGE competition for closed beta keys and a TRIP to PAX Prime.
RaiderZ is all about moving away from the classic formula of MMOs by removing a targeting system, as well as not limiting the player to being stuck in a particular class.
Throughout your time spent playing the game you can upgrade any given ability that you wish and continue to unlock new ones as you progress.
You are not restricted to one particular class and this is what I feel is going to appeal to many gamers: being able to craft their player as uniquely as possible.
In combat characters can freely attack any enemy they wish with whatever skill they have mapped to their keyboard.
When coming up against epic monsters that you can engage throughout the game at any random occasion battles become tense and the requirement for teamwork is at an all time high.
No ‘I’ in Team
To plan your attack wisely the game features a guitar system that allows players to buff themselves as well as teammates before or during battles.
When equipping your guitar your skill bar changes to guitar skills and from here you’ll play a little tune that will generate your guitar’s buffs. These buffs can include anything from damage or defense bonuses that will definitely come in handy when raiding.
You can spam this if you want and being a party of 8 it would be best for all players to play their guitar pre-battle to ensure maximum effect with attacks.
In addition to this is a feast system which works in similar fashion to the guitar buffs. Characters can set up mini banquets that can be shared with your party. My character, for example, set up a pig on a spit and grabbed a large shank that was bigger than him and began to eat it.
The downside to many epic battles is that enemies won’t drop conventional weapons and/or equipment; they will only drop raw materials instead.
Follow the recipe
They provide recipes for items and can help a player create one if they have all the required materials.
For a Free-to-Play (F2P) game that is still awhile off full release it is shaping up to be a good-looking PC game.
Couple that with the different animations that each character has for the abilities and I feel your set up may struggle a little.
That’s not to say you won’t enjoy the game but a powerful rig is definitely needed to have the best experience.
In anticipation of the closed beta Perfect World is set to unleash on August 8th, OXCGN has been given 1000 beta keys (yes one thousand!) for gamers across the globe to redeem.
