OXCGN’s Steal It For The 360 Page is indexed for your navigation in order of appearance since we started the feature in 2009. We ended this when we went multiplatform in 2011.
A point to remember is, while we were not saying we truly ‘wanted’ to steal these games for the 360 platform, we knew gamers would love to see these games become part of the broader gaming community so that more could enjoy them.
In essence, they are reviews, but we felt they required their own, very special page.
If you find a broken link, a mistake or discrepancy, then please do let us know by emailing us immediately, as it’s hard to keep track of over 800 pages on one site.
Happy reading from the OXCGN team.

OXCGN’s Steal It For 360?
The Sims Medieval (PC)
Ruling a kingdom has never been this much fun
by: Allegionary
©2011 Alex Hilton
First up I’d like to say that this game might not technically be a steal as The Sims 3 was developed for consoles but at the moment The Sims Medieval is not for consoles. Have you ever wanted to rule a kingdom, run a store or slay great beastly bears? Well in The Sims Medieval, all this and more is possible in this open world of humour, fun and… village stocks. The Sims Medieval is a life simulation game based in the medieval ages and is developed and published by EA games. This particular Sims game is somewhat different from the other Sims games in that the menial tasks like going to the toilet and performing tasks to get certain attributes up have been removed for the better, as it now focuses on only two attributes: hunger and energy. • Full review here

OXCGN’s Killzone 3 Debate: Would we STEAL IT for 360?
Was Killzone 3 over-hyped? Nick & Alex discuss the pros-n-cons.

ED: We love other platform exclusives- especially those of us lucky enough to own the other platforms. However we know there are those who prefer to keep to their 360, so we often ask if a big exclusive would have been great on the 360. Not if it is realistic or not that the game would appear on it…just if 360 owners would have liked to ‘steal’ it. This time though we have two staff members take a look and debate the worth of Killzone 3 on PS3. It is often touted as the best exclusive shooter franchise on Sony’s platform- but is it more hype than reality? Read the animated discussion below. Speaking of Killzone and debates, this week we will also feature a gamer debate between myself and Nicholas: Be it resolved that Killzone isn’t ‘beautiful’. Check back and see if you agree.
Nicholas Laborde
Well, Alex, we’re not even started and I think this will be quite a heated debate!
Alex Baldwin
Probably. Since Killzone 3′s release I’ve seen so many conflicting opinions around it, but I guess that’s just the fate of platform-exclusive games
NL:
Always. But now for OUR special review! May the best [American] man win, sir.
AB:
…………..sure. But before we begin, I have a confession.
NL:
And what is that, Mr. Baldwin?
AB:
I wrote OXCGN’s review for Killzone 2, giving it a healthy 9.2/10 in the old rating system. Being quite honest, I think I would actually lower that a bit in hindsight • Full review here

LittleBigPlanet 2 (PS3)

Sackboy on 360?
Run to a platform. Jump across a chasm. Jump across another chasm, but swing across by leaping and grabbing a movable piece of geometry. These are actions instilled in to us since the beginning of time (by beginning of time, I mean the 80s) and have been a fundamental part of every single platforming game since the conception of the genre. In 2008, a small company called Media Molecule dared to change this formula and rejuvenate the slowly-dying genre by introducing their first title, LittleBigPlanet. It featured a curious motto. “Play. Create. Share.” • Full review here

Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty (PC)
Would the definitive RTS game be welcomed on the 360 console?
© 2010 Ben Cadwallader
So Starcraft 2: Wings of Liberty has been out for a little while now and is proving to be immensely popular. But sadly this title is only being enjoyed by the happy millions of PC gamers out there, while us console gamers are stuck with playing shooter games like Halo: Reach or Medal of Honor. There are many of us that would like to see a Real Time Strategy (RTS) successor to the successful Halo Wars which proved RTS can work on a console. Is Starcraft 2 something the Xbox 360 owners should have had? • Full review here

Civilization Revolution worked, (Review)
So is Civilization 5 a game we’d want for the 360?
And what’s new in the franchise?
by ChiefJimbolaya
© 2010 Aaron Klein
You start with a tiny group of settlers and dreams of a global empire. How you get there is up to you. Do you grab pointy sticks and conquer your neighbors? Do you rapidly expand to control strategic resources in the hillsides? Do you come to the aid of neighboring city states when they are being bullied by your rivals? Do you construct libraries and universities to learn the secrets of space travel? In Civilization you chronicle the story of your own empire. Civilization is known as a 4X game. The Xs stand for the general tactics used to win the game, namely to explore the map, expand to new territory, exploit raw materials and exterminate the opposition. Its turn-based gameplay emphasizes strategy over twitch reflexes. • Full review here
Red Steel 2 Review
A slashingly hackin’-n-head-choppin’ good time….
©2010 Alex Baldwin
Let’s cut to the chase: it’s about time the Wii got some third-party love. I can count the number of good non-Nintendo Wii games on one hand, and Ubisoft’s Red Steel 2 has casually sauntered into that club, kicked off its boots and is now chugging down some beers with Boom Blox and De Blob. Red Steel 2 is the ‘sequel’ to the first-person shooter / slasher launch title that provided a bit of variety alongside the glut of minigame collections, but failed to truly stand out. However, when I say ‘sequel’ I mean it in the same sense that Far Cry 2 was a sequel to Far Cry. Basically the development team has seen fit to change the setting, the characters, the art style, the gameplay and pretty much everything. Oh, and it’s also one of the first games to require the MotionPlus add-on. • Full review here
God Of War 3 Review
© 2010 Alex Baldwin
It’s that time again. When we at OXCGN use our silent, stealthy skills to scope out the competition and sneak into the nearest GAME store, slip the latest exclusive game from the *shudder* other console off the shelf, shove the cash into the shopkeeper’s hands and sprint out the door before we’re recognised. When I had found a suitably secluded alleyway free from prying, judging eyes, I cast a glance down at the title written on the strangely alien-feeling box, so unfamiliar from the comforting heft of an Xbox 360 DVD case. It said God of War 3. Hurrying home with my guilty secret tucked firmly under my jacket, I threw the disc in the big black box that sits silently behind my 360 before running off to the bathroom and taking 3 showers to wash away any evidence of my escapades. • Full review here
Heavy Rain Review
Attention Xbox 360 Owners!
Is this one title that would have made all 360 owners wet?
by Shadow Wave.
©2010 Ben Cadwallader
Heavy Rain is Quantic Dream’s latest idea of turning an A Grade movie styled experience into an interactive, chair gripping adventure. While this is not a direct sequel to their 2005 cult classic Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy, Heavy Rain further develops, refines and reinvents the game play formula building on Fahrenheit for the better. Due the strong story in Heavy Rain this review will be as spoiler free as possible. To put the story summary into one sentence would be: To find and stop the Origami Serial Killer. There you go, that’s more spoiler free than the back of the box. The game’s story centres around 4 main characters that all generally get alternated as playable characters with each chapter in the game. The brilliance of doing this is it keeps you viewing the story from many different perspectives just as you often would in the movies. And in the later portions of the game, it really does increase the tension when you know your characters are about to walk into something that you already know about. • Full review here
Uncharted 2 Review
©2009 Alex Baldwin
Regular readers will be familiar with OXCGN’s ‘Steal It For 360′ articles, where we sit down with some of the biggest games from other platforms and decide whether we’d like to see it on 360. While some of these games are exclusives, it doesn’t stop us from appreciating a great game, regardless of platform. Or, from taking off the hype-glasses and seeing a steaming pile underneath that we’re glad hasn’t made it to Microsoft Land. This time it’s Uncharted 2 stepping into the spotlight, defenseless against the critical beating I’m ready to unleash on anything that fails the fundamentals of game design. Suffice to say, anyone looking forward to seeing Uncharted 2 reduced to a quivering mess is going to be disappointed. This game is good. It’s damn good. But let’s start from the beginning shall we? • Full review here
Uncharted 2 Review #2

by ChiefJimbolaya:

Stop right there Shia LeBouf! Before Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg crown Mutt Jones the next action adventure hero, Nathan Drake might have something to say. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves follows in the footsteps of Tomb Raider as much as the films Indiana Jones and National Treasure. Moreover, while he is by far a better action hero than Nicholas Cage, he even borders on being as badass as Harrison Ford in his heyday. Even in the midst of innumerable odds and great danger Drake is light hearted and resourceful. Drake is a witty, intelligent treasure hunter with a knack for getting into, and out of, trouble. This time he is racing a ruthless Russian warlord with a private army and eye for world domination to find the Cintamani Stone. The stone resides in Shambhala, perhaps better known as Shangri-La, and is described as the “Buddhist Holy Grail,” granting its owner unmatched power. • Full review here
Monkey Island Pt 3 Review

Arrr mee hartties’ … we sets out on the next chapter of Monkey Island, The Lair Of The Leviathan. Previously on Monkey Island:- At the end of episode 2 of Tales of Monkey Island, Siege Of Spinner Cay, Guybrush and crew sets sail to the known location of La Esponja Grande only to be eaten by a giant sea Manatee. After a short explanation Guybrush finds out that being eaten was all part of the ride, and that this giant manatee would lead him to La Esponja’s whereabouts. Sadly the Manatee is missing his ears cochlea, which for some reason rids the Manatee of his sense of direction, making it impossible for Guybrush, crew and the Manatee from reaching its destination. • Full review here

This leads him to bump into his love, Elaine and maybe a few other old friends as well. Little Kings Story Review
Little King’s Story is deceptively deep
by ChiefJimbolaya
©2009 Aaron Klein
Don’t let the cutesy graphics put you off, Little King’s Story is deceptively deep and at times frustratingly challenging. There is nothing little about Little King’s Story. Little King’s Story has a charming narrative with dark undertones. Your chief advisor, a knight who evokes Don Quixote, pushes you towards world domination. After a few days, a priest comes around and compels you to build a church. They both subversively discredit the astronomer who is investigating the cause of earthquakes that begin to shake the land.

OXCGN investigates – Is it a game to make 360 owners jealous…?
by Shadow Wave:
©2009 Ben Cadwallader
Sucker Punch’s brand new Playstation 3 exclusive inFAMOUS is out and selling like hotcakes, countless PS3 owners are happy and Sony fanboys are trying to rub this title in 360 owners faces. I recently had the pleasure of playing through the entire game to find out if this title really is worthy of all its hype and if 360 owners should really be jealous or not… Here is the lowdown: In Sucker Punch’s new game, you play as Cole McGrath (no, not the guy from Gears of War), an ex-bike messenger who accidentally opened a package which contained a unique bomb called the Ray Sphere, which of course caused devastation to everyone around him, except for himself. • Full review here

For all the exclusives confirmed and soon to be confirmed for the Xbox 360, there are as always some stellar titles on other platforms. Most of us (80%) here at OXCGN are lucky enough to have both an Xbox 360 & PS3, along with the occasional Wii and the standard PC. However, for many of our readers who only have the one console, namely the Xbox 360, we feel it’s our duty to indulge in a bit of fun and a whole lot of wishful thinking. So here are our picks for the exclusives on the Wii, PS3 and PC that we’d most like to see magically announced for the 360 at this year’s E3. And be warned… our big wish of last year, Final Fantasy XIII, came true… and we think there’s at least one of the following that’ll do the same this year. Let’s get ready to rumble . . . check the Poll out at the bottom – vote for your most stealable game for the 360 • Full review here
Killzone 2 Review
PS3 exclusive raises the FPS bar?
©2009 Alex Baldwin
Let me start off by saying this review is almost a curse. Over the past few weeks as the reviews of Killzone 2 flooded the internet, sites were loved or loathed based on the number at the end of their article and accusations of ‘fanboism’ were thrown thick and fast. (check out or Killzone 2 Aust Launch day)
Unfortunately this is the fate of many major exclusive releases for the 360 or PS3. Despite not actually having played the full game internet trolls declared sites that awarded an 8/10 or lower for Killzone 2 flatout wrong or biased towards the Xbox 360. Let me make one thing clear before we dive into the nitty gritty of picking apart Killzone 2 – this is my truthful opinion of the game uncoloured by hype or mythical money handouts from Microsoft or Sony. Yes this site focuses on the Xbox 360, but here we are all true gamers and true gamers can appreciate a great game no matter what format is graces. • Full review here
Metal Gear Solid 4 Review
The closest thing to perfect since The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
by Shadow Wave
© 2008 Ben Cadwallader
As Spoiler Free as possible.
“`Soon as Metal Gear Solid is booted up to the main menu you suddenly just know in yourself that this is going to be brilliant. The menu consists of Solid Snake our favourite young hero, who has now aged close to his end, visiting the grave of the Boss. The menu’s presentation reeks of pure quality and thus, before you even start the game your adrenaline is pumping for excitement. “`When the opening cinematic starts you assume the game is 30+ years since the end of Metal Gear Solid 2, as Snake has aged with grey hair, wrinkles and a rustier voice than ever. Whereas actually it turns out that it’s only been 5 years since the Big Shell incident and that Snake has an accelerating aging disease with only 12 months to live, but Snake has one final mission to finish before he can leave this world… He must save the word from his brother: Liquid. • Full review here
