bioshock infinite cover2012 was an above average year for gaming.

We got tons of major franchise iterations like Far Cry 3, Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Borderlands 2, and Assassin’s Creed III.

In addition to these solid titles, we also received a plethora of new IP and imaginative adventures: Dishonored, Journey, and Spec Ops: The Line, to name a few.

While these were excellent games, it feels as if not that many were actually released in 2012.

The first quarter of 2013 alone tops the entirety of 2012′s lineup, and you’ll see why. (more…)

I imagined that Bill Paxton’s famous line from Aliens (1986) was going through the heads of the Xenomorph players during my time with Aliens: Colonial Marines at E3 2012.

I was MVP and had gone on a kill streak that ended the lives of nine happy Xenos, but better still I had also achieved a quadruple kill, which illicited quite the positive response from the people in the line behind me.

Aliens: Colonial Marines isn’t just a one-trick pony, hyping itself as being the canonical sequel to the film Aliens. It’s also got a multiplayer component that, while being able to stand up on its own, can only be accurately described as “kick-ass.” (more…)

Games!

Games are ultimately what draws the press from around the world to Los Angeles for E3.  The chance to see, play, and preview the newest announced or displayed games from around the globe.

But that’s just for the press.

We don’t want you to completely miss out though, or wait for long detailed descriptions on the games you want to know about now.

So we are running around like chickens with our heads chomped off (by ZombiU zombies?) to give you mini-previews of as many games as possible.

Each day we’re going to list a short snippet regarding each game, listing what we “got” – whether that is hands-on time, a trailer, et cetera – our impressions based upon that, and then our thoughts.

Impressions are judged with a badge based upon the impression itself.

Green: game looks fantastic, polished and basically a guaranteed winner

Yellow: game looks great, but there’s a bit of uncertainty or something that didn’t quite work right

Orange: game is shaping up, but needs some work.

And now, let’s get down to business!   Day 3!
