We’re at the end of the longest console cycle in the history of the industry.

Most AAA releases consist of sequels in well-established franchises. Publishers are taking less risk.

And then there’s Dishonored.

Created by the masterminds at Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda, Dishonored can only be accurately described as a beautiful, evocative masterpiece.

QuakeCon is one of the best events in the video game industry.

It’s like a mixture of PAX, E3 and the biggest LAN party you could ever imagine.

QuakeCon 2011 saw the event evolve from an isolated LAN experience into a far more connected event, thanks in huge part to the sponsorship of AT&T’s blazing fast internet.

UPDATE #2: The initial stress on the servers has been alleviated, and you should be able to download it easily. You can find the Space Core here. Simply hit “subscribe”, it’ll download the next time you start the game, and then he should fall out of the sky near the Western Watchtower near Whiterun.

UPDATE #1: Bethesda informs us that the content has not been removed; there is simply a lot of traffic at the moment causing the content to become unavailable. We will update when things cool down. The original article is as follows.

Today, fans of Skyrim around the world have rejoiced: Bethesda has officially, at long last, released the Creation Kit, the official mod tools for the community to take full advantage of the game and create crazy custom content.

The mods themselves can be easily located via a nifty new place on Steam called the Workshop. Players can find a mod, easily install it, subscribe to the author, write recommendations, et cetera.

Do you remember the zany Space Core from Portal 2‘s ending?
