What will the future hold?

Now that the hype from Modern Warfare 3 is starting to settle I thought it might be a good idea to speculate a little.

For the record, I have absolutely no idea what’s coming next in the Call of Duty franchise but wanted to throw a few ideas out there and see what the rest of you think.

If you haven’t finished Modern Warfare 3 just yet then you might not want to read on because there’s a strong possibility I could ruin the ending for you.

You have been warned!

A Long Time Fan Weighs In

Call of Duty is one of those series that has taken the gaming world by storm, and is undoubtedly one of the biggest, most recognizable names out there in gaming.

Ever since the release of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in 2007, the series has had a massive exponential growth with each iteration… from a business perspective.

From a gamer and long-time fan’s perspective, though, there is absolutely zero growth.

As someone who has been playing Call of Duty since the original title on PC in 2003, I feel it my duty to weigh in on Modern Warfare 3 the way it should be looked at: from the perspective of someone who has been there, done that more times than most.

To brown and bloom, or to not brown and bloom…

You’ve read the title, and now you’re in a fit of rage. “How can this fanboy propose such a preposterous idea?!”

Well, I’m not a fanboy and I love both franchises equally. I play more Call of Duty online than Battlefield but am well versed in both nonetheless.

To put it simply, I’m a realist who enjoys the best of both worlds.

It’s a good thing I didn’t shout “why Call of Duty is better than Battlefield” out over the internet because I am sure we would have several angry mobs heading our way.

I am not here to decide which game is better, I just thought a little insight into why Call of Duty sells so well might be interesting.

So let the battle begin . . .

If you can believe such a thing, there was a CoD before Modern Warfare!

One thing that has particularly caused the grinding of my gears over the past few years is how Call of Duty has become milked, mainstream garbage rehashed every year with .5% better visuals and two new weapons. On top of that, each one sells better than the last!

Don’t get me wrong: you’re entitled to play whatever you like, and have fun with it.

I don’t strongly dislike Call of Duty for the fact that it’s popular, because then that would classify me as an angry hipster.

I dislike Call of Duty because it killed the last good thing the industry still had up its sleeve: what I’ll call ‘classic multiplayer’. (more…)
