2009 has basically come and gone and this year saw OXCGN.com go places which we never thought we would go in such a short time as a Community Xbox Website. We’ve ranked as low as 60k on the global Alexa ranking system, though we have leveled off at 120k, and pulled off a Google Page Rank of 3/10, both of which are huge tasks for any indie game site, especially one that is just over 2 years old.

2009 saw OXCGN attend E3 ’09 in L.A., various THQ, Ubisoft, Rockstar, Microsoft and other events all around Sydney and getting to play and see a plethora of new games from the PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo DS, PSP, Wii and of course the iPhone.

Come see OXCGN’s GOTY Awards, you may get a big surprise . . . !

easter-eggWhen I was a youngster eager for amusement of any kind, Easter egg hunts were a lot of fun. The promise of reward in the form of chocolaty goodness and the competition of beating my brother and sister to more treasure strained my eyes on the search so much that I now have to wear glasses (okay genetics may also have had something to do with it…).

But now I have grown up (somewhat) and what do I find myself doing? The same bloody thing, only now I hunt goodies in video games…and it’s a lot less fun.

There’s still the so-called reward in the form of achievement points or trophies (usually if you find every single stupid hidden item) but they are really useless in both the real and game world and not nearly as good as chocolate eggs.

Treasures, treasures and more treasures – please, enough . . . >

OXCGN Reviews Call Of Juarez: Bound In Blood

Is it a blast in the Wild Wild West, or just a so-so snooze fest?

The McCall Bros are at it again...

The McCall Bros are at it again...

In a shooter game-scape dominated by modern warfare commandos, zombies and space marines it’s refreshing to return to the Wild West.

The Western has made a few forays into video games but this gen seemed largely absent.

With Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption delayed and the steampunk Western Damnation a failure, Ubisoft’s second Call of Juarez (subtitled Bound In Blood) has the cowboy field to itself. But is this one ”yee haw”, or just a great big “neighhhh”.
