A Non-Canon Slaughterfest

2010 saw the release of Dead Rising 2, a sequel that took many by surprise due to the fact Dead Rising‘s star, Frank West, was missing.

Players were greeted by Chuck Greene, a typical American pretty boy surviving the zombie apocalypse. Oh, and his adorable daughter Katie, who has been infected with the zombie virus.

It didn’t take place in a typical mall, it didn’t revolve around taking photos, and essentially had you catering to the whim of your daughter.

Thankfully, the gameplay remained intact to provide hours upon hours of merciless undead slaughter.

The plot consisted of Chuck attempting to uncover the conspiracy behind the infection, and get out alive… all while keeping his precious next of kin alive.

A year later, Capcom has thrown not another true sequel at us, but a redo of the second game, this time featuring the original hero.

Is it worth your time, or is it just a cheap cash-in?

OXCGN’s Dead Rising 2 Review: Pure Zombified Kill-Fest

Dead Rising 2: Pure Zombified Kill-fest

I came, I saw, I drank, I gambled- oh & I kicked some zombie butt!

Another day, another pack of zombies that must be dealt with by any means necessary. I love this job.

Seriously if you’re a zombie fan what’s NOT to love about Dead Rising 2. Sure, some of the conventional methods of combining two weapons to make one are a bit far fetched, but Chuck Greene moves at an agonizingly slow pace and there are more zombies on screen than what you know to do with at times, but for a title that doesn’t try to break new ground, it’s one gory offering of pure mayhem and fun.

It’s always a treat when THQ Australia invite us along to wherever they have booked out for a night of friendly drinks, hot food, free swag, nice looking girls as well as getting hands-on with their latest title.

This time there was a little extra surprise on the side that just made the whole night worth while. As we also treated to an advanced screening of Resident Evil: Afterlife in glorious 3D at Bondi Junctions VMAX Cinemas, which is regarded as the #1 cinema in  Australia at the moment.

With regards to a review on Resident Evil: Afterlife, well I’ll leave that for another article, but be warned, this is not a thinking man’s movie, as it is riddled with ridiculous twists, and odd plot, plenty of over-the-top slow-mo sequences that would make The Matrix jealous and some one liners that by god, you would honestly not expect real people utter or to be that stupid. But as they say, ‘that’s another story’.

Pre-release fun-n-gunning . . . .
