Is this snowjob extreme fun or a wipeout?

An alert informs me that my best score on Denali is no longer strong enough to keep me in the money.

I’m at risk of losing the cash I’ve committed to that Global Event, and there are only a couple minutes left to salvage it.

I drop in, promptly launching off a 200’ cliff in a series of acrobatic flips and spins that could rival Red Bull’s most dramatic footage.

My landing triggers an avalanche, and it’s off to the races as I try to keep safely out of its clutches.

I cut back and forth, carving wide swathes in the powder, vaulting off spines of snow-covered rock, hurdling fingers of the avalanche that reach out at me.

All the while one of my favorite tracks by The Mars Volta accompanies my run, ebbing and flowing with each of my leaps and spills.

I reach safety by the skin of my teeth, securing myself a nice purse.

Jump off the cliff this way

OXCGN’s Take on E3 2010 Part #1

While E3 has finally come, and gone, OXCGN has taken some vids during the days as we headed both to and from the event where we discuss the various aspects of our own daily impressions of the event as it unfolded for us personally.

While those of you that were not here will have different views of how E3 went, for those of us on the show floor or in actual developers booths where the public and even exhibitors were not permitted, we got a much different view and perspective of what was taking place with the different items up for offer at E3.

E3 2010 Publisher Recap #1: EA

by AXIS_of_Reality

©2010 Alex Baldwin:

Another E3 has come and gone, bringing with it one the best selections of gaming gold we’ve ever been witness to. The downside of this is the three of us on the floor were quite frankly exhausted running from one publisher appointment to the next with almost zero downtime.

Now that we’ve got some breathing space before heading back to Australia, it’s about time to lay out our honest thoughts on each of the games we saw from each publisher. This isn’t a stats or features list – you can find that elsewhere. These are our impressions and feelings from each game, something difficult to formulate without being at E3.

OXCGN’s E3 2010 Show Awards

The Awards no one else gives out.

One thing we noticed as we wandered around the main halls in E3 was the large number of stickers, plaques and awards attached to the signs for many games, proclaiming them as being ‘IGN Best Action Game Nominee’ or ‘Kotaku Best of E3′. Predictably these were fixed on the biggest sequels or most elaborate setups.

It got us thinking however: why do we have to stick to the traditional Academy Award-esque categories? Why not honour the less obvious achievements overlooked in the chaos of the show floor?
