Oftentimes, developers unintentionally create a meme within their games.
The most commonplace thing can become a widespread phenomenon, such as “Remeirez!” in Modern Warfare 2, “Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter,” in Fallout: New Vegas, and, of course, “I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee,” in Skyrim.
Other times, people draw a striking resemblance between in-game characters or events and they become commonly associated with the game.
Killing Floor, the vastly addicting zombie wave defense game from Tripwire Interactive, is most commonly known for “Dosh!” which is periodically screamed by an Englishman in the game when activities relating to currency are involved.
The gaming community then drew the connection to an old song by Harry Enfield, entitled “loadsamoney.”
Tripwire, upon arrival of their second annual Summer Sideshow event, have released Harry as a playable character in the game, for the whopping price of $5.
