It’s no surprise to anyone that the Action/Adventure RPG genre is a popular choice for gamers. We have been spoiled for choice over the years with some high quality titles, which has allowed gamers to waste away their time holed up in front of a screen instead of experiencing that overrated thing called “outside”.

The Action/Adventure RPG allows gamers to experience various game worlds, richly detailed, full of life and character. They cater to the players’ game styles, allowing them to create a unique character or choose specific abilities with which to play through the game. The Action/Adventure RPG grants the player a sense of representation in the unique game world.

The following are 5 essentials that I believe the Ultimate Action/Adventure RPG must have, along with an example of a game that goes about it the right way.

E3 2012: Sea of Mediocrity? No big surprises, but should there be?

No big surprises, but should there be?

Disappointment abounds.

That’s the sentiment I see repeated all over the place about E3 2012, and specifically, with the possible exception of Ubisoft, the big conferences.

Often it is a case of announcements that were hoped for not appearing, like the next gen (despite the fact it was stated there would be no next gen announced) or the fact that we knew most of the announcements going in.

Or, in the case of the Wii U, a feeling of scepticism or, in the case of the PS Vita, a stunned “where are the games and price cut”?

There were very few surprises.

A “sea of mediocrity” as one commenter put it.

But does this mean E3 2012 is a big disappointment?

No.  Not for those who like games, and particular promising new IPs.

Is this E3 mediocre or just what is should be? Look here

OXCGN’s Mass Effect 3 Review

Top endgame or sunk by ending?

The world is ablaze with Mass Effect 3.

OXCGN chose to wait out the storm of ‘ending rage’ to release a review, but in a different form.

I’m going to try something a little unconventional, and review Mass Effect 3 in terms of an emotional investment, rather than just a standard review outlining the features and usual criteria like ‘graphics’, ‘sound’, etc ; we all already know this is a AAA quality title in those categories.

Commander Shepard‘s near-five year journey has finally drawn to a close, and I’m proud to say that it’s a worthy, triumphant endgame- and no, the controversial ending does not change that. (more…)

Undoubtedly, you’ve heard about the fuss over Mass Effect 3‘s ending.

I guess someone on the internet forgot that some of us enjoy playing our games spoiler-free, but that would be in the realm of accusations, and I’m not here to discuss that.

Instead, I’m here to say something that will earn an infinite amount of criticism.

Gamers should not, and can not dictate a developer’s creative vision. By attempting to do so, you appear as nothing more than an entitled, whiny child.

With IGN reporting that BioWare is most likely giving Mass Effect 3 an additional or new ending, it looks like the complaining horde have had their way.  Should they have won?
