Games!

Games are ultimately what draws the press from around the world to Los Angeles for E3.  The chance to see, play, and preview the newest announced or displayed games from around the globe.

But that’s just for the press.

We don’t want you to completely miss out though, or wait for long detailed descriptions on the games you want to know about now.

So we are running around like chickens with our heads chomped off (by ZombiU zombies?) to give you mini-previews of as many games as possible.

Each day we’re going to list a short snippet regarding each game, listing what we “got” – whether that is hands-on time, a trailer, et cetera – our impressions based upon that, and then our thoughts.

Impressions are judged with a badge based upon the impression itself.

Green: game looks fantastic, polished and basically a guaranteed winner

Yellow: game looks great, but there’s a bit of uncertainty or something that didn’t quite work right

Orange: game is shaping up, but needs some work.

And now, let’s get down to business!   Day 2!

OXCGN’s Prototype 2 Review

OXCGN’s Prototype 2 Review

Will it ‘consume’ you?

Much like Hollywood and their current love affair with remakes, reboots and unnecessary sequels, we find ourselves in a similar situation with Radical Entertainment‘s Prototype 2 and question whether this franchise warranted a sequel or not.

In my non-comparative review of Prototype I praised it for its enjoyable gameplay which was fluid with the freedom to roam the city as you wished.

This pushed it past its clichéd storyline and cheesy dialogue.

Prototype 2 is set once again in the most over used city in gaming, New York, which has seen yet another outbreak of the Mercer Virus, setting up the premise for the rest of the game.

Mutate this way…

OXCGN’s dedicated contributors are getting restless.  I can tell.

They love this time of year; when those that are lucky enough to be selected pack their bags, get their air tickets, pray for their dream announcements and look over the upcoming games they will see at E3.

As usual, my job is to man the fort, which means I miss out.  However, that doesn’t stop me from sharing vicariously their experiences and their dreams. [Ed.: All while commanding us with an iron fist...]

Here is my personal Top 10 Anticipated games of E3 2012.  Let me know in the comment section below what yours are.

OXCGN’s The Darkness II Review: Worth The Wait?

OXCGN’s The Darkness II Review

Worth the wait?

Try and try as you may, you can’t keep The Darkness at bay.

Well, it’s been 2 years since Jackie managed to subdue The Darkness and start to rebuild his life but it’s back, and this time it’s looking to take over completely.

Two years it’s been since it ruined his life, his girlfriend died and he went on a killing spree to get even.

In The Darkness II you take the role of Jackie, who appears to be a mob boss of some kind because everybody has New York mafia-style accents and really likes to kill anyone who gets in the way.

You’re minding your own business having dinner at your favourite restaurant when things get ugly.

The place is attacked and the only way for you to survive is to let loose what you once tried your hardest to contain.

Enter The Darkness.

Now the bad guys are in for a nasty surprise because The Darkness gives Jackie a killing ability second to none. Not only that but you get a nifty little ‘Darkling’ who helps with the killing in a most effective way.
