One of the absolute worst ramifications a console manufacturer can deal with is that of the lack of software at the system’s launch.

Take for example the Nintendo 3DS. Few big, recognizable names – and at that, of first party nature – were at the system’s launch, which undoubtedly led to the initial losses and swift price cut.

Eager to hit Nintendo where it hurts most, Sony has launched the PlayStation Vita with both new IP and familiar faces, most notably being Uncharted: Golden Abyss.

It’s not made by Naughty Dog, and it’s near-impossible to believe that Sony Bend have matched so perfectly the story and formula we all know and love.

Golden Abyss embodies much of the AAA excellence we expect from the Uncharted franchise, but in handheld form.

With the PS Vita’s release inching closer and closer, I’m back once again to cut through the excitement and raise the potential questions and issues that may harm an otherwise excellent console.

Several months ago the companion article to this for the Nintendo 3DS raised similar queries, some of which were remedied upon release and some of which still remain.

Time to see what Sony can do with their second dip in the handheld pool, hot on the heels of the underwhelming Sony Ericsson Xperia Play phone.

With the unveiling of the not so secret name of Sony’s upcoming handheld console today at E3 as the Sony PS Vita (no longer the NGP or PSP2), Americans, Europeans, and Japanese got to find out the price. But not Australians. Yet.

It has just been revealed by EB Games that the estimated RRP for the PS Vita here in Australia is AUD $348 and $408 for 3G (updated prices as of July 20).
