I love explosions.

I really do!

Games where you can demolish buildings and foes alike in fiery displays of power and destruction are games that I always have and will more than likely continue to enjoy.

That is precisely why when gifted with the review of Red Faction: Armageddon, I was thrilled and decidedly ecstatic about the concept of blowing up buildings, terrain and enemies all at the same time.

Is it a worthy successor to Guerrilla, or the same game with a new coat of paint?

Let’s go blow things up shall we ….

It’s always a treat when THQ Australia invite us along to wherever they have booked out for a night of friendly drinks, hot food, free swag, nice looking girls as well as getting hands-on with their latest title.

This time there was a little extra surprise on the side that just made the whole night worth while. As we also treated to an advanced screening of Resident Evil: Afterlife in glorious 3D at Bondi Junctions VMAX Cinemas, which is regarded as the #1 cinema in  Australia at the moment.

With regards to a review on Resident Evil: Afterlife, well I’ll leave that for another article, but be warned, this is not a thinking man’s movie, as it is riddled with ridiculous twists, and odd plot, plenty of over-the-top slow-mo sequences that would make The Matrix jealous and some one liners that by god, you would honestly not expect real people utter or to be that stupid. But as they say, ‘that’s another story’.

Pre-release fun-n-gunning . . . .

Demons of the badlands oxcgn #15Red Faction: Guerrilla, the third game in the franchise, hit the shelves just after E3 2009 and exceeded all expectations with its change to an open world 3rd person perspective and plenty of destruction.

Now Volition have released their latest item, #1 of their 3 part series, Demons Of The Badlands.

Moving away from the linear semi-corridor shooter it once was on previous generations of consoles, Red Faction: Guerrilla offered much more in terms of visuals and destruction, boasting what has to be the most impressive destruction engine I have seen, the Geo-Mod 2.0.
