The definition of insanity

far cry 3 blood dragon box art oxcgnEvery so often, there is a game that seemingly emerges out of nowhere to take people by surprise.

A game so absurd, so ridiculous, that people can’t help but be intrigued.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is about as absurd a game as we’ll see this year.

Developed by Ubisoft, Blood Dragon is an FPS that aims not to tell an engaging story, but instead tries to bombard you with many an 80′s reference in order to produce a hilarious, somewhat nostalgic experience, which quite frankly ends up bordering on the insane.

Is this blood worth shedding?

Half-Life 3 is Real

Half-Life 3 is Real

Is Valve trolling yet again, or is this confirmation?

At this point in space and time, if anyone from Valve uttered the phrase “Half-Life 3″ the entire internet as we know it would implode upon itself and break the space time continuum, truly allowing 2012 to live up to the Mayan’s expectations.

Valve are known for trolling their fans on a consistent basis, but only because they love us so dearly.

They could be up to it yet again, or this could be concrete evidence that Half-Life 3 does in fact exist.

UPDATE #2: The website Black Aperture (here) has been updated… with a 3. So, today’s a day for HL3!

Oftentimes, developers unintentionally create a meme within their games.

The most commonplace thing can become a widespread phenomenon, such as “Remeirez!” in Modern Warfare 2, “Patrolling the Mojave almost makes you wish for a nuclear winter,” in Fallout: New Vegas, and, of course, “I used to be an adventurer like you, but then I took an arrow to the knee,” in Skyrim.

Other times, people draw a striking resemblance between in-game characters or events and they become commonly associated with the game.

Killing Floor, the vastly addicting zombie wave defense game from Tripwire Interactive, is most commonly known for “Dosh!” which is periodically screamed by an Englishman in the game when activities relating to currency are involved.

The gaming community then drew the connection to an old song by Harry Enfield, entitled “loadsamoney.”

Tripwire, upon arrival of their second annual Summer Sideshow event, have released Harry as a playable character in the game, for the whopping price of $5.

We all enjoy the month of April, especially the very first day.

Game developers across the globe take part in causing everyone unnecessary stress because of things we would love to happen, but ultimately will not.

Everyone knows of Valve’s classic title, Ricochet… well, we know of it, but I don’t know anyone that has played it.

Today, Valve has a little surprise for us. (more…)
