Race Pro – Car Reveal: GT Classes screens, text and trailer!
Race Pro – discover the various GT class cars in Race Pro for Xbox 360
• Race Pro GT Classes: 20.01.2009
For other Race Pro Details and SimBin History feature page:
RACE Pro features three GT Classes: GT Pro, GT Sport and GT Club. GT Pro is the fastest of the three classes, followed by GT Sport and GT Club. Each GT class features all out race cars presented in full race trim. What differentiate the three classes are levels of tuning on engines, the amount of chassis improvements allowed, and tyre and wheel sizes.
The GT classes in RACE Pro have been designed to mimic real GT classes from around the world. RACE Pro features a mixture of rules from major GT championships to ensure the best possible balance in terms of performance amongst the cars whilst also ensuring that each car performs like its real life counterpart.
Tools used in RACE Pro to balance performance are air intake restrictors and restrictions to the aerodynamic package. With the cars properly balanced, the choice of which car to race can be based on factors other than sheer performance.

This movie requires Adobe Flash for playback.
The production cars featured in RACE Pro are luxury, high end sports cars and super cars. All of them can be purchased and driven on public roads, but in order to truly appreciate their speed potential, RACE Pro has taken them for a spin at the track.
Originally designed for the street, these precision engineered driving machines are a perfect addition to RACE Pro’s line-up of racing cars. The production cars featured in RACE Pro each give a different racing experience, so to give a taste of what RACE Pro has to offer, unveiled below are the Koenigsegg CCXR, Dodge Viper SRT-10 and Audi R8.
1. Koenigsegg CCXR
• Manufacturer Overview: Koenigsegg (Koenigsegg Automotive Ltd)
Since the first prototype left its assembly line in 1996, Koenigsegg has established itself as a manufacturer of high-performance cars based in Ängelholm, Sweden, and is reputed for making one of the fastest production cars in the world.
In 2004, Koenigsegg launched the CCR which broke the Guinness World Record for the fastest street-legal car in production. The car’s badge is based on the shield of the Koenigsegg family, a noble family with roots in Bavaria and Prussia.
In 2007, Koenigsegg launched the CCXR model featured in RACE Pro capable of running on E85 and E100 Ethanol as well as unleaded 98 octane fuels. Running on ethanol, the car produces 1018 horsepower and can achieve speeds of 400+ km/h.
The two production cars from Koenigsegg featured in RACE Pro are the CCXR and the CCX, both with the true specs and speed potential of the real cars. The 1018 horsepower CCXR is therefore the fastest car in the game when it reaches its top speeds on the straights.

2. Dodge Viper SRT-10
• Manufacturer Overview: Chrysler (Chrysler Holding LLC)
Walter P. Chrysler founded the Chrysler Corporation in 1925 in Detroit with the automaker quickly earning a reputation for advanced engineering.
In 1928, Chrysler Corporation expanded with the purchase of Dodge and the creation of the DeSoto and Plymouth divisions, making it the third of Detroit’s “Big Three” automakers overnight. Known for many years as Detroit’s engineering company, Chrysler Corporation gained fame for creating power steering, power windows, the alternator, electronic fuel injection and the Hemi engine.
The Hemi V8 engine made its debut in 1951 offering 180 horsepower and rivalling the V8 offered by Cadillac: it kick-started Detroit’s horsepower race of the ’50s and ’60s. In the late ’60s, Chrysler was heavily involved with NASCAR and producing performance-oriented cars.
After a difficult decade in the 1970s due to the oil crisis, new government regulations and changing consumer tastes, the late 1980s saw Chrysler purchase American Motors Corporation (which netted the company the Jeep brand) and launch a joint venture with Mitsubishi known as Diamond Star Motors. In 1998, German-based Daimler-Benz merged with Chrysler to form DaimlerChrysler.
With its 8.3 litre V10 engine producing 510 horsepower, the Viper SRT-10 is capable of reaching super car numbers for both acceleration and top speed. It does exceptionally well at track days whilst also serving as a car for daily use.
The Viper model’s pedigree has been proven time and time again in GT championships as well as 12 and 24 hour races around the world. All the data gathered from motorsports racing has been used in developing and producing the real life Viper SRT-10.

Race Pro Impressions

Race Pro – Hands on impressions
Race Pro – we get our hands on the new upcoming Xbox 360 racing simulator
Atari and developer SimBin’s Race series of racing simulation games have always been very well-respected in the world of hardcore PC racers. Race Pro sees the developer try their hand at console gaming for the very first time, bringing Race Pro exclusively to the Xbox 360.
The main bulk of the gameplay in Race Pro comes from the career mode. In this mode, aspiring racers will sign contracts and gain sponsorships, in order to acquire enough credits to enter the bigger events, and to race the faster, sexier cars on offer.
Race Pro offers over 200 cars, ranging up to 1000 horsepower. There are three different racing series to compete in. There’s the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC), Formula 3000 and Formula BMW. The game features completely licensed car manufacturers to keep everything feeling totally authentic. Manufacturers include BMW, Audi, Seat, Alfa Romeo, Dodge, Chevrolet and many others.
Car enthusiasts will have a field day with Race Pro, as every car in the game has been lovingly modeled and rendered by SimBin’s dedicated team to provide the most realistic racing experience possible. Even the engine sounds have been recorded for every car.
SimBin have been developing the game’s driving engine for several years, and have used it in their release of the renown PC games, GTR, RACE: The Official WTCC Game, GTR2 and GT Legends. More than anything, this engine claims to be the most comprehensive racing simulator available today.
Race Pro will reflect this, and while it offers the ability to turn on several driving aids to make the experience open to rookies, its detailed driving and physics engine means that the learning curve of the game is geared to reward those who put in the hours to learn the nuances of handling and performance for each vehicle and the racing lines of each circuit.
Players will soon learn the finer details or driving a 700 horsepower car that weighs a little over 800 kilos; judicious use of the accelerator is called for frequently! Powering out of a corner too early will cause the car’s rear end to lose grip quickly.
Likewise, hurtling into corners and braking late in an effort to make up places or lap times will mean you car has no steering capability and you end up in a sand trap or worse, a wall! Driving line markers will assist beginners to understand the ins and outs of each corner and given time you’ll gain the confidence and begin to push the boundaries of performance and physics for each vehicle.
Don’t get too cocky though – once you master the perfect lap you then have to put it into practice, in bustling racing traffic!
Each vehicle setup can also be tweaked to the Nth degree, with options ranging from suspension, to brakes, to exhaust and the engine can be set to your preference, or racing style. The myriad of options leaves games like Gran Turismo’s meager offerings looking quite arcade-like in comparison.
There are 13 official real-life tracks to race on, as well as two created solely for the game. Some famous and long anticipated tracks, like the Macau Grand Prix and Laguna Seca make their very first appearance in the Race series.
Race Pro features extensive multiplayer options, allowing players to compete over Xbox Live in races with up to 12 players. You may also race in a local area network via system link so if you have some friends with Xbox 360s and a load of TVs you can have a great LAN match race.
Race Pro also features a new ‘Hot Seat’ mode, giving players a limited amount of time to race, before having to pass the controller along to the next player. This ‘co-operative’ mode is great fun for multiple players on a single console.
Xbox Live will also provide players with lots of post-release downloadable content, in the form of more cars and tracks, ensuring that Race Pro is intended as a long lasting experience.
Race Pro is set for release in November and will satiate any racing-simulation aficionado’s cravings for a deep and precise racing experience.

Race Pro – info, screens and video on Road America circuit
• Race Pro Road America: 20.01.2009

This movie requires Adobe Flash for playback.
Race Pro is Atari’s new racing simulator for Xbox 360. We have new game information!
Road America is one of only a handful of road circuits in the world which has maintained its original configuration of 6.515 km in length and 14 turns since it first opened in 1955. The track is located in Wisconsin, USA, halfway between the cities of Milwaukee and Green Bay.
The track has many elevation changes, fourteen turns, and a long front straight where drivers can reach speeds up to 300km/h. Road America is a very challenging track with high speeds gained on the long straightaways offset by hard braking zones and subtle turns that can catch out even the most seasoned drivers.
Finding the ideal braking zones takes time and practice, but mastering these can help gain crucial tenths of a second vital in winning races at Road America.
One of the best known features of this course is a turn on the backside known as the ‘kink’ following the 180 degree turn called the ‘carousel’. The “kink” is a wild corner that should be tackled with caution and respect as it is sharper than it looks, has walls on both sides and no run off. Start by braking, and then work up to just lifting as you become familiar with it.
The final image of the Raod America track, one of the most revered tracks in America, and a highly dangerious one at that. The long back straights and slight bends can be deceiving and many end up in the kitty litter on the bottom right hander heading to the last section prior to the bridge’s underpass, then the right into the main straight. Which is also needs to be approached with caution as it’s extremely easy to over cook the gas and end up hard up agaionts the fence, watching your competitors fly past up the long straight away from you.
Lugana Seca: Home of America’s Famous “Corkscrew”.
While we are dealing with tracks, here’s some pics of the famous Lugana Seca with the infamoius “CorkScrew” that has many a good driver come to greif on. The approach for it is over a blind rise with a slight right bend, then into a sharp left dip and a righthand screw both of which are banked and really only accessible in 1st gear, and accelerated out of in 2nd in order to get speed up again.
